Do You Need Quiet?

To me, it doesn't really matter. I can read in a quiet place, and I can also read in a noisy place, as long as I am concentrating and focus on the book I'm reading. I used to watch TV programs and study for the exam at the same time. I also always bring a book with me when I go out. While waiting, I always read a book. Perhaps that's why the environment doesn't really matter to me.

I don't really need it to be quiet. I prefer it if there is some kind of background noise. I'm somewhat used to having some kind of noise in the background, while I'm reading or something. It's funny, as I have a slightly difficult time focusing when I'm home and it's quiet.

I like quiet, but have learned to read with a little noise in the background. If it's an interesting enough book then it doesn't matter much what noise there is or isn't... I'm getting more into reading now so I'd say I could read with the t.v. on, but if people started talking on top of that? I'm not so sure.

It depends on my mood. Sometimes, when I am getting sleepy, like when I am reading boring textbooks, I need some nice music to perk me up. But when I am reading novels, especially by my favorite authors, I can read all day with no music. When I am reading magazines, I usually have some music in the background. Music does not distract me from my reading.

Hi teresa welcome to mylot..
Hello my house is never totally quiet, nor too noisy, the tv runs most of the time at lower volume, while i work on my computer or laptop there is always a soft music or some old hindi movies song keeps running in back ground, i hate noise and total silence both..
Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

I'm usually Mylotting while listening to audiobook. I hate silence. I've been that way ever since I started living in my college dorm. There was no silence there so now I can't bare it.

It doesn't really matter to me. I don't need quiet, but quiet does help a bit. I don't like to listen to music while I read, but if I'm in a crowded place and music is playing then it doesn't really bother me much. I tend to read anywhere and everywhere, so I've learned how to concentrate on what I'm reading in a loud and noisy room.

Not exactly. I read easily when commuting or when there's a bunch of stuff happening that's not related to me. Sometimes, I leave my speakers or my radio on when I read. I also read during commercial breaks when I watch tv :) I haven't read in someplace quiet for quite a while, now that I think about it.

I do both and I really don't care whether it's loud or quiet.
