Hello there! As a student we all know that studying our lessons is of great importance. But I have to say that I have this weird study method. lols. I cant study during daytime. I feel so distracted and all that. I find it conducive for me if I study at night. So yea, you can consider me as a nocturnal. Hahaha. I am currently reviewing for the NMAT. National medical admission test here in the Philippines. Im having a hard time reviewing since I've been super distracted lately :( What should I do now? Any tips on reviewing 'properly'?

Same here i can't just study at morning. There are a lot of distractions for me. I have to play games, sleep in class, talk to some cute girls and so many more. But in the night there is no one who would be awake for me or something like that so i study mostly in the night too. I usually sit at the computer and study. That is really distracting at times but i have managed to study quite well and maintain my grades too. If you don't want to study then don't because then if you even force yourself to study you won't get anything inside your head. Cheers!

Yup you bet it is...a real distraction and by the end of the day you will understand why the theory or relativity is true... Someone once said Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity....

well my friend ravi is absolutely right during day girls are a great distraction for boys and i hope girls might find boys as a distraction too. so study when you feel quite and always study in a niche ambience with a tranquil mind and don't forget to switch off cell phone while studying at night(believe me it helps a lot) and also dont look at clock very often it is also a great distraction

Same with you, I have a hard time reviewing or studying at daytime because of environmental noise. I easily get distracted whenever I hear something around. I also want to read in a quiet room just to get me more focused on my readings. However, you need to adjust that review habit because you cannot always find a quiet room. Thus, one of my law professors once advised me not to review during night time or early hours of dawn. It is so because the mind or brain will get used to work or operate at those times when in fact examinations are done during daytime. Tendency is, when you review at night time, your brain works and sleeps during daytime. Our brain gets tired too. So I ask you to make adjustments. If you are distracted with the noise, make use of earplugs. Do not review or study on your bed because it may tempt you to fall asleep. When reviewing, write down important notes for you to go over them. Make a time table so that it helps you to set your mind that you need to finish a certain area at a certain time. What else? Take energy boosters at a certain time and finish it within a few minutes. Do not take them while you are studying because it may break your momentum. Say, reading time is 8 am to 10 am, then take a break for 15 - 30 minutes. Then resume for another 2 hours. Another, reading or reviewing aloud then record it may also help. Try to adjust with the distractions because you cannot really avoid them.

hmm.. NMAT! wow! God bless for that! well, i dont have a regular study habbit, however im trying my best nowadays to study. I am a nocturnal person as well, what i do when i study at night is to multitask myself. example, i eat while i scan or do the tread mill while i scan my notes (scan is my lesser term for reading. i feel that when i say read, id die. hahaha). it helps me remember things or i mean, remember the lines that i've read when i do something else. Its like, associating the words with the things i do,. In that way, id remember them. also, proper sitting postion helps memorize what you read. i dont know but its related to the brain thing. and the most important thing that you sould know when preparin for an exam or for any quiz or for any memorization purposes, one should have enough SLEEP. yes indeed! SLEEP is required to achieved those, it is so important than on what you study. you see, when we sleep, our mental capabilities increases. our brain regenerates when we sleep,. which means, a well functioned brain is a great brain! so my dear, just read your notes, and have enouh sleep. then read your notes again so the brain will be able to process it and you will be able to understand what you re reading! tcare and God bless!c".)

We were actually similar in study habit. I also study at night because I can't concentrate during daytime. For your problem, I think you must put in mind your future when times that you are distracted. You must think the consequence when you are not going to study, and then later on, you will realize that you must study for your self and for your future. That is the way on how I encourage myself to study when something's bother me.

Hi! I have the same habit with you too. I find myself studying effectively at night. I could really say that I am a night person. Ever since I was a kid, my mom established in me a study habit. That's why until now even if I'm already in college, I still have my evening study habit and I can't really sleep well if I am not able to browse my notes. I guess you should really condition your mind not to get distracted so that you can focus in you review. God bless you in your upcoming exam.

Can you isolate what it is that is distracting you and alter this in someway? Different people study at different times - that's ok. A distraction can actually be an avoidance behaviour that we use to not attend the task that we know we should be doing. Maybe you need to look at why you are so distracted lately.

I know I have to review exhaustively :( cause the NMAT will be this december. It will be my 2nd time to attend but its just that I dont have the drive to work hard. I need to refocus and prioritize more.

Hi there. I also have the same problem as you. When I'm alone studying, I'm very distracted and I just can't sit still. I listened to music but that added to my troubles. Well my suggestion would be to go to the library to study or maybe find a quiet place, with your closest friends. If you need, you can listen to any soothing music you like so as to accompany you during your study period. Soothing music calms the mind and therefore, I think it'll help you much.

Why don't you study at school? Assuming that you can't study at daytime because you're at your house. Obviously, school would be the best place to study at. You can also libraries. Also, when you're studying, I think it's best for someone who gets easily distracted to study alone. That way you can focus on what you're doing and not have someone randomly talk to you when you're trying to concentrate.

One of the most effective tips I've been given is to do most of your studying in the morning when your brain is much more receptive to new information. In exams and tests that I've taken in the past, I've found that when I study before bed, I loose all that info pretty easily, but when I study early in the day, I remember it almost perfectly. I know you say that you find it hard to study during the daytime but I would suggest grabbing a friend or study partner to help keep you focused. Studying by yourself ins't all that fun anyway.

i am also a student(engineering) in india. i also cant pay much attention to study during day time because the hassle around us during day time causes a lot of distraction. for study i had made a schedule in which i study only during night since i had discovered that 2 hours devoted to study during night are more than 6 hours devoted to study during day. so all my major study work(reviewing, writing etc) is done during night usually from 10 pm to 2 am. during day please take some time for sleep since our body cant work effectively without sleep to complete the metabolism cycle of body(as a medical student you may know better). so a sleep of total of 6-8 hours a day is required the rest of time can be devoted to study during the night, during day you ca accomplish other works like grocery, reading novels, extra curricular activities like sports etc. SO THE MAIN THING IS TO MAKE A SCHEDULE THAT FITS YOU THE BEST. all the best for your entrance exam. you can contact me for further guidance as i like you study only on night.
