Some of you know I've had open heart surgery the last two weeks.
It's been a bugger let me tell you. When all this heart stuff first started I told God I choose life and I won't smoke again.
I have had some discussions on this already in mylot about the smoking.
That is not what this discussion is about particularly.
I went from two stents working nicely to both of them clogging up and causing me more problems.
I've been out the hospital a week now and feel pretty good.
As I look back and see the tremendous scar they left after cutting my breast bone and dealing with the pain after they used a vein in my leg to fix my heart and wonder if I'll have a better life now?
I have talked to several and say I've done the right thing. I am praying I have.
I do have more energy even in the recouping stage.
I know I could have died any time........and yet I've been given the third chance with double by pass surgery.
I am awed to know the Lord has spared me for something that I haven't finished yet.
Do any of you feel as tho you haven't done everything you were meant to?
Do let me know if you do and if you've encountered this heart surgery thing as well and how you've done with it .
Thanks and God bless.

Of course WE are going to make medical history !
I do think you and I have about the same purpose in life now. The kids/grandkids.
I know you were walking yesterday but have you found out any more from your dr?
I do hope so and you are getting some good answers.
I am starting my new plan for walking in a few minutes of doing it twice LOl
Dogs are staring at me LOL
But the best you and I can do is to make it clear that we are fighters and intend to make our hearts works good and our kids pay attention!!
Now, you take care of Chey and when my kids get back I'll let them take care of me LOL
huggsssssss

Hiya quita,
Good to see you here again and good to see you have come out very well of the Operation.
I know of no one in our Family that has had Heart Surgery I know of Friends and of others too that have had to suffer this.
They seem to be able to maintain a pretty active life. One I know even went back to Work for a while.
Where we live they do a lot of open Heart Surgery and transplants too they are quite world famous for it as well.
I´m very glad that you were in such good Hands and you will continue to be well always.

Yep, we heart patients get many check ups ! I for one have three more appointments this week alone..
Ah,my grandsons.......I do so miss them and they just started back to school too. They are growing !!
I haven't seen them in about two weeks but talk to them on occasion on the phone :)
I was to order some things to support their base ball and was discussing this with dad,my son, and the youngest said, Dad, grandma needs this....it was humming bird puller for my ceiling fan :)
needless to say, I will be getting one !! That boy knows me !
Anyway, I do so thank you for your concern and with all things great and wonderful, I hope you too have a great day :)
God Bless,
quita

Hiya quita,
So glad that you are doing very well. Your Grandsons must be longing to see you again . I had a Friend in particular that went through a bypass and that was years ago. He probably has a Heart in better condition than most as it´s like he says he is always being looked after by the Doctor so much and so many check ups as well.
Keep it up and stay well now.

Quita we are glad you are back. Thanks for the report. It is good to hear that you are noticing an increase in energy to weigh against the pain and scars. I hope that you are going to continue in great health. Yes, it must be that there is something else that you are meant to do.

hi quita reading this reminded me of three years ago when I was rehabbing from having had a shoulder joint replacement. For whatever reason when I went to mylot again my left arm and hand would sort of seize up and I really sweated for awhile as it hurt a lot to type with my left hand' but I finally began to heal better . I was left with not much use in my left arm so anything I can do to force the muscles to accept the plastic and metal shoulder joint the better. But those first days wow I would type and almost weep as my shoulder hurt and I kept thinking now what am I going to do if I cannot type, how will I mylot? but I did it.take it easy guita you have time.

We all conquer pain and disability differently. As for me, I make myself use this left arm that is numb. Typing does hurt and I get really angry when what I have typed comes out all wrong !!
But, we get thru it and in our own ways. I'm stubborn .!! I want to do this so badly !!
I am sure tho that in a few months I too will be back to almost normal.
Do take care of that shoulder. I'd hate to think I had to miss a mail from you!!
WE older folks have to take care of each other!

Hi Gerty,
It's good to be back. I've been back but not too much. It's kinda hard to sit here and type with the stitches. The pain isn't too bad. I just have to learn not to use my arms to much.
Thank you for having me back !
I just know there has to be many who find they too feel there is a purpose left for them
God Bless,
quita

It's so good to see you here following your recent awesome surgery. So far I've been pretty lucky being that I quit smoking easily and even thought I feel no different I know it must be having some positive effect. I have mobility problems due to osteo-arthritis and therefore I'm obese and I hate it.
There is still such a lot of things I want to do and I can't figure out how I am going to do it all when I am this way

I am sorry to not get back to you sooner but I am not getting all my responses...
I am sooooooooo glad to hear you say you quit smoking !!! and, yes, a positive effect :)
I quit after my first heart attack and never started back since May 18, '09.
So sorry bout the osteo-arthritis too.
I have arthur too, but it's not too bad.
The obesity could be helped if you came to see me and we could walk every day !!! I'd love that !
I have lost, due to the surgery, a little over 10 pounds but figure I'll gain it back.
Just take your time, start walking a couple of blocks or so a day and increase that as you feel secure with the length and you should see a little weight loss in time. besides, walking is good for the osteo-arthritis as well as your heart and you should eventually pick up and feel like doing all those things that you want soooo badly to do !!
Take my word for it, walking is the best...
Wish ya could come and walk with me. I get lonesome by myself LOL
hugs, quita

hi quita88 welcome back hope you are feeling much b etter, I know
having open heart surgery is no picnic, not from my personal experience but from having worked in the hospital as a nurses aide for many
years.God I think has something more in mind for you so hes given
you a big chance now which is wonderful. I also think you have done
the right thing. I too have wondered since I passed all the 70's and am now 84 that God must have something more he wants me to do. I am so weird as I get short of breath yet my ekgs always are marked benign'as I throw premature something or rather's yet the heart doctor claims I do not have heart disease so if he says that since he is a top rated cardiologist I will take his words. The few times I have had to go to er and they did an ekg they start getting all worried as I throw those odd waves yet when I tell them the cardiologist said my ekg is a benign condition then they agree I am fine indeed.so I thank God and try again to lose weight and to control my blood glucose level much better. My table mate and friend Sandra has five stents in her and I do worry at times as she gets these spells where she is really short of breath. Like me she is also overweight, but unlike me she does not
cut back on her portions. I have lost 25 pounds so a m going now for fifty more to get healthy again.

As I read this, maybe it's your table mate you've been left here to help her cut down her size so she too can be of more help to others.
Yes, Hatley, I've been spared and think it's for my grandsons and son.
I've found out age is not important. Life takes and it gives.
I 've been given the smiles on my grandson's faces and we play and they tho they are not aware of it , I'm here for them.
As a nurse I know EKGs can throw funny signals ! But, pay attention to your dr. and also take care of your table mate, Sandra (five stents?) she really does need to lose weight..
Friends are a great commodity and if you can lead her in your direction of losing weight, you will have helped not only yourself but Sandra too:)
God Bless,
quita

Sorry I'm a wee bit late on answering quita but I still wanted to let you know that I'm glad it all went as well as it did and you'll be around a few more years. But at the same time, I'm sorry you had to go through such an ordeal. Get better soon, ok? Rest rest and rest some more!!
