Okay guys I need help here. At my workplace each of us has our own login ID to windows. I tried to install Mozilla and even some toolbars but due to the fact that I am not the administrator (and the ID), I am not able to install them due to unsufficient level. Is there anyway to overcome this besides asking the administrator for help? Much help appreciated!

no i don't think so. Only admin can do that, i think you need to contact him or get the password you can bypass it but i wouldn't recommend that as its for the workplace so you don't start getting bad ideas.

In my mind, only the administrator can manage all of the system of your computer. If you insist in doing so, the only way I suggest you to reformat and reload your hard disk. May be you can install you Mozilla at your USB drive or External hardisk. Then you can run Mozilla at the same time as the Admin's system. My above suggestion is only for your reference. I have not tried before. You judge out yourself and responsible the consequences. ha! ha! ha!

I would advise you to not touch anything because the computer belongs to the workplace. I've also met these kind of situations before and I've thought of ways to do it but to no avail. Most importantly, don't install anything illegal such as keyloggers.

If there is any restrictions for you in terms of accessing any thing there should be a reason for that.. I will advice that you do not try such things without the taking any permission form the authorized person...

There is no way that I know of. I wouldn't recommend you try either. Most places I have worked, you can be fired in heartbeat for trying to bypass any security measure on their systems. I doubt Admin would allow an install of Mozilla due to the plugins one can add....there could be security risks at hand. Computers in the workplace these days are subject to being monitored by your employer, there is no so called privacy or right to privacy. If your workplace has a spoken or unspoken policy or guideline about the use of their computer, ...I would follow it.

There is a way to by pass it, but since it's not your computer and is the workplace computer, it's best you don't do anything with it. Don't install anything and DO NOT try to by pass the administrator ID. You can lose your job in a heart beat just for downloading a simple program and toolbar. Remember, downloading something into the computer that is owned by your boss without their permission is risky and if it gets a virus and data being stolen cause of some virus, trojan, malware, etc. Can get you more in trouble. So best not to download and not by pass the administrator ID.

While I'm sure there are ways to circumvent the system, I would advise against it. Those safeguards are put in place for a reason. I would suggest simply asking the administrator for help. Finding a way around the system could lose you your job, and that would be a bad thing. Understand that companies have systems like that in place to help prevent viruses (which could spread through the whole system since the network is probably all interconnected), prevent the system from being hacked, etc. I don't see any reason the administrator wouldn't help you out, as long as you can present a valid reason for wanting these things installed on your computer.

Have you tried using the portable version of Firefox? The current security setting may be to block any attempt at installing a software on the hard disk. If it is then you may stand a chance of using the browser. If not then you will have to live with IE.

I don't think that there's another way to bypass your IT department.. they were there to minimize your privilege in your computer.. ask them if they will allow you to install that mozilla..
