I hate it when people does that to me. Handing me a task yet they are full of comments about the way i'm doing it. Since it's being assigned to me, they should allow me to do it the way i want. As long as i'm able to complete it on time in a comfortable way, why should they disrupt my momentum! In one of my part time job, i have been tasked to set up tables for reservations. It's not my first time doing it and i have the experience. However, the manager who's new to the outlet, is standing there, pin pointing whatever does not suit his style. When i gave him my comments, his reply was "I'm the manager"! Oh come on! IF he wants to play the role of manager on me, he should have tell me to do it with instructions rather than asking me to do it my way, only to kep disturbing me with his comments! I'm so frustrated!

I understand your problem. But one thing you should remember. You should be able to create a confidence in your manager's mind that you are the best person to execute the task. When ever the manager changes he/she tries to get settled in the position. First thing for a manager's requirement is to exercise control. You should not take it as an offending. Be patient and try to convince him/her of your efficiency. I am sure , very quickly, the same manager will come to ask you suggestions. Try this and come with a new post on the results.Best of luck.

What I meant was that, the manager has to get convinced of your tlents. She may show excessive control on you. But it will not go waste. She will certainly give you rewards in some other ways, like promotions, bonus etc. So be patient and do your work as being directed correctly. Wish you all the best

I'm much more patient than my manager for sure. Whatever she wants me to do, I already have it in mind. But that does not men I can conjure magic, everything needs time to arrange and some last minute changes.

hi sanitary! well i guess such kind of people exists everywhere and yes i also feel annoyed when i come across someone like them, and just because they are the manager we can't really do anything but to follow...only if we can say to them 'why don't you do it yourself...' hehe just like when i am cooking and then someone is there commenting and correcting me in everything that i do, huh! it really makes me feel bad, why don't they just wait and see the outcome before they comment, and also i feel that they don't trust me and my ability when they do that.

Correct. Since we are the one doing it, they should respect us. If there's any comments, they should wait til everything's done because what they see now might not be what they get in the end. They are more of a trouble than help.

yes respect should always be there coz for sure they wouldn't want to be treated that way too. and that's also why i like it better to do thing alone. i hate it hen there's people around me who disturbs me in whatever i do specially if they are like your manager who keeps on talking!

hehe ^_^ I have been in your situtation before and i understand how u feel.. haha =D Those new managers especially, always likes to prove their authority in front of us. They dun like to be outdone, making themselves look redundant.. haha =D The only way for them to leave u alone is by working harder. Showing them u can work independantly, and dun give them any problems at all This is what i do to all the managers and soon they place their trust in me, knowing that i can handle things without their presence unless customers asked for them.. haha

All my colleagues and other managers knew of my capabilities except for him. He needs time to understand my working habit than me need time to know him.

Yea I understand. Some people are like that, always expecting others to do things their way. I hate these people too but what can we do? This is life. We have to handle and meet all kinds of people everyday.

I'm glad that I'm only a part timer there. I can afford to ignore her orders with the support of all other colleagues there.

Maybe this manager is threatened by your capabilities. Like the others have told you, be patient and carry on with your good work. When the opportunity arises, apply for managerial position for yourself. I see this manager of yours as a life tool of what not to be as a manager.

If ever I lose my full time job, I will be back for him, waiting to be above him instead.

I know how it feels. Having a person like that in our surroundings pretty annoiying, isn't it ?!! It would be better if they let us doing what we want to do until we finish the job and they can comment about it letter. If they feel we are wrong, they should let us know which part is wrong and show us the better way to do. I've ever dealed with a supervisor like that. That person feels that everything we do is wrong and then command to change all as she like. We know her way is wrong, but nothing we can do so we do what she want. Then when known that it was wrong, she accuse us can not work and her command wasn't like that. Come on, wouldn't you be mad if treated that way too ?? In your case, I think this manager only want to learn from you because he actually can't do that by himselves. I wonder if he actually want to ask you how to finish the job but prevented by his pride as manager, so that's the only way he can get the information. Just be patient about him, don't let him screw up your job and your life. I know you mad, but take a deep breath and try to smile. I hope that it would make you feel better :)

I've been through whatever u said in your post. I agree with them all. I hate it when the tables are turned around on me when things go wrong. Being a staff does not mean we have to be responsible for everything. But then again, through this incident, it allows everyone of us to see what kind of manager he is.
