It seems like you have got some really good responses to this question. The truth is there are some wonderful people online who will make good friends. There are also plenty of the other kind. Just be careful, take things slowly and try to notice what type of character they have by their conversations and choice of words.

but dont trust them with your bank and credit card details as that can make a good man turn
into a bad man ok.

Yes, you can make a lot of friends online but you should not start trusting them and start sharing secrets right away.
Chat with him/her, exchange messages take time to know him/her. The once u makeup your mind and you heart feels that you can trust him. Then you can take one step further.
Start-up with asking silly question and see how he/she responds.
The best thing in making a trustable friend online is that you can share feelings and can ask some personal question which you can't do it face to face.

Its possible in having friends over the internet but be wise in choosing your friends because you wouldnt want friends that are liars and that never keep there word and always promising they would always be there for you. Instead the best way to make friends is to go out and meet new people who have similar interests to what you like.
