why people do dumb questions?

I think that people need to do dumb question, becouse if they dont they wont be happy. I work in front of a Mail, other day a person entered my work with an address in hands and asked "Where is the Mail?"... Come on, if i have an address in my hands i wont and ask like this, or just look around before ask... and other day too someone entered my work and asked the name of the street, but my job is in a corner, and every corner has a sign with the name of the street.
