I have recently added Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit to my computer, just wondering what are some good programs (possibly freeware) that will help me. I am looking for virus scanning software, video players, downloading programs, etc. Pretty much anything that I know I will get good use out of. Thank you.

hey... thats good. I also like freeware softwares and i always search them on internet.. Anti virus- I am using Avast anti virus.. which is free version anti virus and its really good in protecting from virus plus it also protects me from harmful websites.. I also used avg in my other system. which also offers free edition and it is quite good too. Video players : well i don't know about any freeware video players as i always use windows media player which is built in in windows operating systems. Downloading programs : if you are looking for any download managers then DAP( download accelerate plus ) is good download managers.. it is good for downloading files and we can pause and resume our downloads any time. In browsers i always like to use opera for downloading purpose. :)

I'm a big fan of freeware/open source. I use Avast anti virus (the free version) for virus protection it's served me well over the years. As for video I have Divx and VLC player. I have Divx for mostly watching streaming video online and VLC player plays a huge array of formats so I use that for Downloaded stuff. I don't use a downloading program, use Firefox web browser it has an addon downloading manager but I don't use it.
