Online dating, what's your experience been like?

I've tried a few dating sites myself. The ones that are free of charge as a general rule, because I really can't afford to pay for it right now. I did a free weekend at eHarmony and it was ok. The profile was a pain in the butt to fill out though. To be honest, I didn't think the sites were worth the time and effort (not to mention the endless stream of emails from the site asking me to upgrade to the paid membership). Come to think of it, I've never encountered anyone worth going beyond the email and IM stage.
How about you, have you had a different experience?

I have had some bad experiences like you said. Alot of the men ive emailed or im were never worth going beyond that. Though there was one that I spent 2 months talking to and then we went out and have been together for a month, so I guess you can find a relationship from them, but I think it takes time and effort weeding through the bad ones.

I fell in love with a guy's profile on a social website seven years ago. We've been married over two years.

Hi wiccania! Never had the experience even if I wanted to try. Number one reason, there are surely a lot of pretenders here. If you are up for fun, then do it. Just be careful though.

Hi wiccania:
Online "dating" has a very low batting average so to speak. Scams, multiple personalities, and what not abound in this jungle called the internet. You could easily get lost in there and be devoured if you're not vigilant. Sometimes though, a few good spots offers haven to this information superhighway just like here in myLot.
I know, people here may be more sincere and may get the credit they deserve.
Remember, its a jungle out there.
