Choice: Family Planning vs. Famine/Starvation

Philippines

In the Philippines, a reproductive health bill supporting the use of contraceptives and family planning methods has been passed in Congress. However, being a Catholic country, the church opposes such an order. In simpler terms, the government is trying to legalize safe human reproduction but the church strongly contradicts such because of the immorality attached to it.(I myself do not agree.) The consequences however, of continuing the current trend, would be an exponential rise of scarcity in resources(due to a dramatic rise in population) that could result in famine and starvation.(The main problem of overpopulation is not that there is not enough space, but the increase in the rate of consumption) Luckily, these consequences will be felt in the long run. For me, another solution aside from family planning should be implemented. The government can try and search for another way to solve these problems. There is no need to approve the bill. There may be another way. What do you think? Should the bill be rejected?

i believe the government should provide options and proper education for every Filipino regarding family planning methods. it should never be a question of which is more important (population growth control or food security) because both should be addressed by the government. given the options and knowledge, every citizen has the power to choose the best thing for himself/herself.
