I asked this question since normally what I do is to open the email from my GMAIL account then read the discussion details and i hit respond to discussion. i don't like to read the responses of the others since it will make my thinking clouded or will end up making me just respond like the others... so what i do is after i posted my response that's the only time i check the responses of others and comment under them if I see their comment is good or if i agree with them. what about you guys? how do you do it? read first the responses of others or hit the respond button after reading the discussion details?

I usually read the first three responses before deciding if I have to respond to the discussion or not. I read the first responses because I'd like to see if they responded with similar ideas as mine.
If that's the case then I don't usually bother responding to the topic and just move on to another one.
But sometimes there's an exception especially on topics that I think are really interesting.

I automatically open my Mylot account and check the discussions of my friends first. I start with the Title which is more appealing to me. Then, I'll open it and read everything then I'll respond.
I don't read the responses of other respondents. I'd like to post mine first before doing so and see if how many respondents have the same mind set as I have about the topic. I'm always looking for the ones that contradict mine.Because it makes me see the situation in a lot more wider perception, thus giving me more insights than I already have. sometimes, it corrects my wrong perception of the issue at hand.:)
I hardly comment to responses especially if I do agree with it.:)

Well, i also do the same what you do, i dont see the response of other while responding to any discussions. I see them after i have submited mime, but sometimes it may cause your response becoming similar to othes response.
I just pick up the discussion what i can answer properly and then answer to it

Of course, I pick my interests and the discussions that suits me and reply it depending to my answer or comment.

It depends on the discussion. Sometimes I want to read the other responses first, other times not. If it's a myLot question, and other people have already answered it, I don't want to swoop on in and say exactly the same thing.

Hello,
No,i don't read responses from other mylotters.
I don't have the habit of doing so.
Once i read the topic and i hit the respond to this discussion button.
I don't mind of my response sounded like the others.
I always respond to discussions that i can relate with.
Then, after posting my response and see any friends of mine posted response to that topic too, sometimes i read his/her response and post comments, but i seldom do it.
Have a good weekend

Hiya freymind,
Usually I skim through what People are saying but that does not influence me in my writing. I just write what I am thinking about as I am opening the Response page and that´s it. I don´t hesitate I just go in there and answer. I say usually there has been a couple of times that I have backed out for various reasons.

There are guidelines for responses. In what way are we interested in other's responses.I only read the discussion and formulate my reply and post it.There is nothing wrong in reading responses posted by others unless you want to take ideas from them or repeat the same ideas in your words.Your response should have separate identity. Then only it has value. What you are doing is correct...

I respond discussion in My Lot based on my interests. Of course the topics that in line with your interests will be replied with much ideas and comments. The more the topics strikes your interest, the more you'll be interested in that topic. One way to respond the discussion in My Lot is to read first the source topic and read the posted comments under the topic. Then you can immediately get some important information and clues to respond the discussion. For me, I'll only limit to 10 sentences per topic because I have to post comments to the other topic.

Hi freymind! After choosing a discussion which catches my interest or attention, I normally read the other details written by the one who started the discussion then hit the respond button. There are times I can go over the responses of other mylotters but it will only consume my time. So I'd rather compose and post my response, comment or opinion about the topic. I do try my best and make sure that my reply is responsive to the discussion. When I'm not in a hurry, I also comment on the responses of other mylotters especially when i agree with their response. Have a good day and happy myLotting! :D

My routine is about the same as you, opening up my gmail account and look at all the discussions first. When I find those that I'm able to answer, I'll go and respond.

we're on the same boat. i check other responses after i posted mine so as not to be biased. at times, i don't even read other responses. you're right, by reading other responses first, their thoughts tend to influence our opinions till we get discourage not to push through with the responding since we might be sharing the same thoughts.

I have the same problem as you sometimes too! Seem as many discussions is difficult to respond. just dont know how to answer all the discussion here, but its better not to answer than to give a wrong nformation or to give a bad feeling for giving an answer which is not even conncected to the topic. Sometimes, there is some complexity in expressions that makes it more difficult, I have a method but its waste some time, if you want to answer someone's discussion look and appreciate the other's first can help you make up your mind.

What i do is look for a topic that interest me and post my opinion. Then, i read what others have posted.
