Today in Britain the rain is pouring down, it is cold , windy, grey and miserable! Horrid weather but just the day for some of my thick and warming home made soup ! I Have just had a big bowl with a big chunk of my home made bread and now I don't care about the weather any more, I am all warm and cosy inside!! What comfort food do you turn to when the weather5is miserable and wet?

Why or why must you make me so hungry all the time!!! First its cake, then its bread, now it is soup..I am now starving!! LOL I love homemade soup. We have a little diner down the street that makes the best homemade soup, and they have 2 different soups each day, made fresh daily. My favorite soup is split pea soup and lentil soup. I usually make a bunch of soup and then freeze it. Of course, I can actually eat soup even on the hottest of days as I just enjoy it that much. Well I guess I have to now take a break and eat something...guess what I have a taste for?? Cake, bread and soup...thanks ;-) Actually, I think I need to take a nice long flight over seas and eat at your house. LOL Have a great day.

I was only teasing. Yesterday I was so lazy, I didn't feel like preparing anything to eat and I keep reading discussion after discussion about food to the point where my stomach was just growling!! I have a crazy sense of humor, I hope I didn't sound like I was offending you. By the way, how do you get those little smiley faces on your posts....do I have to download them?

Hello the soup looks yummy, this year we did not have a single day of heavy rain!!Some times in earlier years it used to continue for days together.. In such weather my wife prepares pakoda from red-gram flour, onion, green chilly mix, these are fried in oil and we enjoy with tomato sause or tamarind chutney.. Thanks for sharing. Cheers. Professor. .

We are having cooler weather, but no rain in my part of the US. I have a pork roast in the slow cooker. It sounds like a good idea to make some homemade bread as well. We also like fruit crisps when the weather is cool. Things that have herbs and spices and are aromatic. I like chili year round, but especially when weather is cool. I think I would like to crawl back in bed, too. It is getting cool enough that I am needing to bring in all of my house plants and make sure all the storm windows are closed.

Soups, stews, and casseroles are my comfort foods in the cold weather. We also have chili occasionally but I am not a very good at making it. I wish I could but it never seems to taste right when I fix it. I am also thinking that I would like to have a good meatloaf soon.

Thanks for reminding me, after I read this and before I started my response I just put on a pot of home made soup. All I did was put the chicken parts, frozen, in a pot of water and turned it on to simmer, for now. Yes, I love my home made soups at any time, no matter the weather, but it always does taste a little better when it's miserable outside. It is supposed to rain all day today, hasn't started yet but really dark and gloomy outside right now. So I knew I had some chicken parts in the freezer that I just bought a few days ago purposely for soup and put them on to simmer. I will add the rest of the stuff after a few hours of simmering. Thanks again for the reminder. Happy eatings my friend. Cheers my friend and happy mylotting, Chris

Sometimes I will go to the store and buy a chicken that is already cooked. Sometimes they have them on sale for cheaper than you can buy them uncooked. I then eat a meal off of it and then take all the meat off the bones and use it all week in sandwiches or salads, and I make a soup with the bones that we eat on all week as well. So a $6.99 chicken makes a dinner for me and my daughter and lunches all week and soups all week. It is a very economical way to use up a chicken.

Hi I do hope that you enjoy your soup! I always make a good chicken broth with the carcass of a chicken when we have roast chicken, it makes an extra meal from the chicken and makes a lovely dish and your money go a little further!

I think that it is a world wide trend that we all have to be able to make our money go that little bit further these days!! I'm just glad that I had a good sounding in thrifty and economical home making!

Well it makes some difference to me ...not always but yes sometimes ....as if we all family members are at home and weather is cloudy and rainy as well then we used to make pakode which is just amazing to have in rainy time and we normally avoid cold things to have and curd...as such I dont care ...when I am alone at home I had anything in any season .

I just like a hot chocolate usually for a cold weather. Sometimes I crave for hot spicy seafood noodles. Yummm. That's all that I want whenever it's really cold.

It is also wet and sort of miserable here. It's been raining a lot lately. So, when I am back from work, a warm big mug of tea is always soothing. Something fried is tasty as well. Anything is fine - fried noodles, rice, whatever. Mom usually make fried bananas or something.

Couch potato - Some times it suits to be a couch potato
Curtains drawn, and in the cozy comfort of my Egyptian Couch, I would be cuddled up there with a hot cup of tea, crisp wafers and with a sizzling book to read! - would not mind anyone calling me a couch potato!

The way you described your soup and bread is making me hungry! The weather here has been crazy too. My fiance calls it "Seattle on Steroids." One minute it's raining like crazy then you blink and it's scorchingly hot and humid. Lately though, it has been raining and the weather is cool and nice. Perfect for cuddling! And perfect for eating warm chocolate porridge with something salty to balance the sweetness. :)

There is nothing like good homemade soup on a day like that. The sun is shining here but it's chilly. I have a pot of soup on cooking right now to have when i get home from church. I also like chili on a cold day. I can eat homemade soup the year around but more in the winter.
