Mince pies for sale in September?

I really hate to see christmas goods for sale as early as September. The whole festive feel is lost. I was looking at a pack of Mince pies on the shelves and noticed that the best before date was 20th OCT this year!!! so the pies will be far from edible come christmas time. What are your opinions?

that just kills the whole idea of Christmas spirit. here in South Africa, they put up the decorations during the first week of October. I saw it and when I saw your post it made me thing of just that. everybody gets so hyped by all the things related to Christmas, so when the time comes for the real celebration, everybody feels no real spirit anymore. everywhere you go, there's trees, tinsel, lights and loads of gift hints. I may be mad, but I love last minute gift shopping. that just adds to the spirit.
