Yes! You've got it right and I am equally baffled with this recent article on how a man lost over 15 stone just eating one of our favorites - Chocolates. What's even more pleasantly bizarre is that this man actually suffered a stroke and whilst recovering decided to embark on a diet to loose weight to manage his health condition. I see that this is really good news to overweight individuals who has a sweet tooth and/or could not find diet dishes favorable. However, I must stress that anyone who would like to embark on any weight loss program or diet, to seek professional assistance and guidance. Hope that you would find this article both encouraging and helpful. Ref: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1316480/Morbidly-obese-man-loses-200lbs-chocolate-diet.html

This is the bestest news ever! If I ever need to go on a diet, I would choose this one over any other. I'm wondering if it was dark chocolates that he mostly ate, since there are already reports about the health benefits that can be had from eating this compared to milk chocolate. I guess I better check out the link you provided. Thank you for sharing! :)

The guy ate dark chocolate. Dark chocolate has LESS sugar than those conventional chocolate bars found in stores. The beans used to make chocolate can be compared to coffee beans in terms of bitterness and has very very few calories. So if you ate a chocolate bar that has more chocolate than sugar, you'll naturally lose weight. Its the sugar in the chocolate bars that makes a person fat

clam_eater, I am not disagreeing with what you have posted here about the dark chocolate and all. As you are aware of the intricacies, I am sure you would agree with me that this is not to be done literally and alone without professional supervision. The success story is indeed encouraging but I do hope that taking things in the literal sense will not take place here, if you get what I mean. Take care and have a nice weekend.

I think that it is great that he wanted to lose weight so that his health would improve but I'm not sure that he did the best thing for his health by going on a chocolate diet. Most chocolate has tons of sugar and is high in fat, neither of which is good for you. After more years of dieting than I would care to tell you about, I finally realized that I would only achieve permament weight loss by changing my lifestyle. There aren't bad foods but everything in moderation.

LaurenInLA, I believe that this diet is one where it will need close professional supervision where the diet will need to be balance on the carbohydrate and calorie counts. Also, I've read a bit of this and I am sure this one (diet) is really being successfully carried out or this candidate might not even be fitfully alive after loosing 5 stone. To loose 15 stone (200lbs) will not be successful and the fact that he is still alive just speaks volumes here. If you look at some of the dieting methods nowadays, I feel that there's always some side effects which is a risk on top of the success rates. Like Atkin's, who would have thought that eating meat (including saturated fats) alone and avoiding all forms of carbohydrates could also help slimming, so I suppose this chocolate diet is no different. Again, I just have to agree with you and say that such programs should never be carried out without proper supervision and moderation.

I wouldn't say that this is really a chocolate diet after reading the article. However, I do think that completely cutting things out of your diet is something that you really shouldn't do when you are trying to lose weight. I've been lucky to be able to lose quite a bit of weight in the last couple of years and that is because when there is something that I am craving, I will allow myself to indulge, but I have to indulge in moderation.

Yes, chocolate diet does help in losing weight but only in small amounts daily. It will be good if it's dark chocolate than those cream chocolates. As chocolates has got carbohydrates in them, they are able to keep us full for reasonable period of time. The reason for choosing dark chocolate is due to it having lesser fat contents. But even so, it's not recommended to eat too much because there's still calories after all.

I hadn't heard of a chocolate diet to lose weight before. This sounds very innovative. Chocolate lovers around the world can gain hope for weight issues with this.

enthusiasticone, I see that you have taken this with a little pessimism and I do not blame you as it just sound too good to be true. However, let me assure you that this success story is not a lone feat on the part of the person in this article. As always, moderation is the order of the day and not forgetting some professional supervision. Take care.

That's insanely interesting. I wondered when somebody would try something like that. I think everything else in the world has already been tried (only vegetables, only fruits, only meat, only bananas, only apples, only juice, only...). Now, lose weight with chocolate. Who would have thought we'd see this day! haha. Thanks so much for sharing.

At first sight of the article I was eyebrows up. I can't believe that this can become a miracle. My family's view on chocolate, no matter what it is, is the cause of diabetes and obesity. It was quite late for us to notice that DARK chocolate is the healthiest stuff there is. It has been proven that there are antioxidants in dark chocolate, and since then I've chowed on them, but with no definite results, as I haven't tried dieting with chocolate, but I'm a certified sweet tooth too. Dark chocolate is my favorite, though it doesn't always pop up in our dessert menu.
