Yawning is still a mystery until now, no one really knows why we yawn. Not only human beings yawn even animals does it too. I only noticed when I yawn everytime when i get sleepy. Some say we yawn when we ran out of oxygen or not enough oxygen. Others say it because of stress, where I could say true since it also happens to me when im bored or stressed out. Some are just contagious when one saw someone yawn, unexplainable it may seem but it happens to me too. Do you experience or do you also wonder why we yawn? Is there someone here could really explain why we yawn?

Im not sure why we yawn. But I have thought about it... Im thinking more towarded the lack of oxygen idea because of what we are doing when we yawn. We open our mouths really wide and suck in a large amount of air.
Not sure though.

i agree with you too, a lot of theories are mentioned but all are possible but still no one can really attest which one is the real reason.

yes, its more of like that, i usually caught myself when im stressed out and exhausted that leads me to feeling ill and sleepy i guess. i hope so... i just kinda wonder why they cant explain it when most of the people right now are more knowledgeable to science. coz even them only have theories but doubtful about it still.

I think it's meant to be some sort of automatic mechanism that helps us to draw in more oxygen, apparently, anyway... although when i yawn, I always seem to stop breathing...!
