I know lot of people who really love to cook and enjoy food but I think sometimes they sacrifice their health in advantage of pleasure. For example they use lot of fat, creams or butters or sugars or cook food very high in carbs all the time. I believe it is possible to enjoy a good meal without using lot of unhealthy ingredients and keep a good taste. How about you? Do you prefer to cook healthy or for pleasure? share your thoughts

I cook for pleasure most of the times because i love trying new stuff. Usually it goes wrong most of the time and sometimes it doesn't taste that good also. I wish i could cook better. But when i cook something really good my mom makes it really sure that everyone would taste it and then compliment me on it because i rarely cook anything good!
Cheers!

It is good experiment with recipes and develop a cooking skill because it will be useful in your life. I remember myself when I was a child I used to do lot of experimentation before I finally develop a good cooking style. As I grew up I was convinced more and more that there are many ways to cook healthy and the same time tasty which is far more rewarding than cooking only for pleasure. Overweighted people is one of the worst phenomena of our generation.

Yup experimentation is good. But even vegetables are becoming costly nowadays and one should be careful while experimenting now i guess....

To be honest, most of the time I cook for the pleasure, but since a lot of my habits are rather healthy and I do not like very unhealthy stuff, I still manage to eat pretty healthily. But I am trying to cook more healthy things these days, since my fiancee has had some health problems and also wants to lose some weight.

I am glad you are keeping healthy habits because it is important to have good health in life. Without good health we cannot advance further in any area and we should all do our best to keep our body and mind clean of unhealthy habits.

I try to cook healthy, as already was in the hospital because of poor food choices in my early years. There are many great tasting foods that are low in calories and that includes sweets. You can use applesauce instead of oil in the cake or cookies for example.

I didn't know that about apple sauce. Not that I use and oil when making cookies... I use mostly linseed if I want oil additive in cookies and for sweetness I mostly use oat which is already sweet when cooked and small pieces of fruits, sometimes chocolate in really small quantities. Do you have any suggestions about making sweet cakes as well? I would really love to know.

I am cooking healthy food, at the same time I'll try my best to make it pleasurable. What the point of eating healthy food when the taste is not so much? I feel like I am torturing my family if I do that. So I try my best to add more veggies, add less salt and sugar, less oil, less MSG (usually I don't add this one at all) and try to balance the meal.
