I dont know why it is named laptop. These days the laptops are hot plates. You cant keep in lap and work on it. I am sure many of you accept that too. I have a heat sink to reduce the excess heating of my laptop. I am using that for a long time now and it is pretty good. When i go for downloads for a long time, i always prefer this. I have seen some recent ones where water cooling heat sinks for laptops are available. The one good place to check out the varieties online is eBay. I am sure most of you use these and share your thoughts on the same on what you do to keep your laptop cool.

I don't use an external heat sink for my laptop. I just let the original heat sink of the laptop do its work. There are times when I work on a non-air-conditioned room that my laptop gets hotter. I just put something beneath it so the air will be properly ventilated. That way the laptop will not become hot while I'm using it.

Hi! xorticanz! What you are saying heat sink is only an external device to draw out the heat from the bottom of the laptop and throw out. Yes! it is the gimmick of laptop manufacturers that they cannot design effective internal cooling when they are trying to reduce the weight of the laptop. The processor, the power rectifier, and some ICs in the circuit emit lot of heat which is driven out with some internal fan. But obviously is not enough. So the new laptop cooling pads have come into existence as an additional auxiliary. I do not use any cooling pad but most of the time I work with my laptop placed on a table ensuring some clearance underneath, using som spacers. I have not come across water cooled devices. I am sure one has to be very careful in using them.
