Fewer Gentlemen these days!

Do you agree that there are just few gentleman these days? I can see a lot of old people, children and pregnant women standing inside MRT/LRT and buses while younger men are comfortably sitting! As for me, even if I'm a woman, I usually offer my seat to pregnant and older people because I believe I'm still strong and that older people should be given special treatment. How about you?

Gentlemen are almost extinct. The men think that they also deserve to be seated in a full bus or train since they pay the same amount as everyone else? Except of course if there are senior citizen discounts.

I agree with you and I was impressed with the attitude from you that give you seat to an older. Same place in my place, also most people in here are only concerned with themselves. They would not give their seat to old people, pregnant women and childern. This is what makes me doesn't prefer to use bus as my transportation. (MRT does not exist in my country). happy myLotting.

That's right, I experienced the same. When I was pregnant and went in a full bus, nobody offered me a seat. When I wanted to cross the road on a crosswalk, several cars passed in front of mine and nobody stopped to let me pass to the other side. In a bus full of passenger, I also saw older couples, the man sitting down and the lady standing with difficulties to keep on standing because of her age, in the meantime her husband has been very comfortable on his seat (and seemed to have still enough strength to stand up and let her sitting down instead). Also younger people don't worry about if you are old, pregnant or handicapped. People get aggressive and rather prefer to discuss instead of being polite. I am wondering if it might be based on a bad education most people recieved or if it is the result of a world full of stress where people are already tired and don't have time to think about education.

Quite true mariacecilia! There are just too few gentlemen nowadays. It is something like me first before everybody else. Perhaps the result of a culture of individualism. I value my independence like I would say no to a guy who offers to help me with things I carry if I can do it myself. But I also would like a guy to offer to help anyway. But gone are the days of chivalry and perhaps compassion, too. Too bad, really. Have a good day.
