What do you say about helping each other here,in myLot?

Hi thebest1, You know my native language is not English. And you also know what is my mother tongue. Me, too, I'm afraid I make mistakes sometimes, but I try to limit their number by checking the grammar and spelling of my comments before submitting them. Even so, there are mistakes that escape and when I see them it's already late to make corrections. I wouldn't mind if anyone corrected me, in fact I'd be grateful for any observation, as it's known that we can learn from our mistakes. So, thebest, if you see me making mistakes , please feel free to correct me. Some user proposed to create an interest under we can discuss about learning English but I haven't seen such an interest so far. Do you think it is a good idea?

I have seen mistakes in your language.OK. The most important thing is the other person should understand what you want to convey.that is all.As you say some get hurt if their English is correct. But you are not hurt.I am glad. Here in India we were ruled by the British for more than 150 yrs.The official language was English.Here we attach much importance to grammar and spelling of English .Here also English is not our mother tongue.But many speak very good English. In fact I have written more 1000 poems in English on Satya Sai Baba , a living incornation of God for many of us{ We regard Him as God who walks on earth}He is world renowned and He has followers through out the world. Don't mind your English as as as you are understood in your discussions.

Hi thbest1, It is not always that one is judged by his language alone in this type of social forums. There are more non English speaking people here then the people with English mother tongue. It is not always that one is judged, on such forums, by his language alone. It is the matter that is discussed and the points put forth are more Important. It is very difficult to correct somebody's language with the fear that it may hurt the feelings of the person concerned. And everybody may not feel the same way as you do. One thing ,however can be done by mylot staff members, they can send a private message to the persons concerned pointing out the mistakes noted.

Yes english is not my native language also, so i think i must be making some mistakes in sentences and may be some spelling mistakes, but we dont have to worry abou that much as every here understands english here and must have the idea about what we are trying to say even if there are some mistakes. And i dont think that the people with english as their native language will have that much time to correct our mistakes

Here in mylot, there are a lot of people around from the globe who are not good in english. Like me, we consider english as our second language, but we still have troubles and difficulty in learning and mastering the language. For the fact that, we often use it in our daily conversations. I think if there could be someone who could correct and teach us, that will not be a problem at all. People who are open minded and open for suggestions would appreciate being corrected but not to be put down or discriminated.

Well, what we need here wasn't to write in perfect English with all of its grammar, but to write what we're thinking so the others can undertand and comment about our opinion. If my English got corrected by others then, I think, I should appreciate that. I'm sure they correct my English with a good intention so I can speak with more proper English. I think I've made many mistake myself, but that's okay. Let's make this Mylot as a training ground to improve our English. (^_^)v

Hello thebest1 so far you are doing fine with your english. I am from the usa and believe me I am not perfect with my english. You have to just do your best and I am willing to help in any way that I can you can add me if you would like and I am willing to help you.

Hi, thebest. English is not my native language, either. So, one thing I love myLot is that it's an English community in which we communicate with each other in English. By doing so, I can somehow improve my English, I guess. Well, I think it'll be a good thing if people correct my English and I will not mind it. I appreciate that. But, so far I haven't met such a person.

About your post title , we are helpind each other since mylot has been founded. What you say about correcting i don't think is possible because even native speakers make mistakes, let's not forget about people who are bad and respond just to have more posts and you think that they correct you...some people mind when they are corrected... Have a nice day!

I think here are many persons who always give their help and suggestion that what can do for any problem. So I think mylot give us good platform where we can helps to each other by starting and answering to discussions. When any person feel any problem then he can starts discussion and also express their problem through their discussion. And after sometimes he/she get responses for their problems because here are also many active members who always give responses to discussions.

hello best, i think you are not alone with that problem. i too am not that good in english,though i am here learning to practice more of it,though i still know that spoken english language must still be enhanced. sometimes when we do type here,try to speak it also. i think it will help a lot. and about correcting our grammars here,i wouldn't mind if someone would correct my grammars sometimes,though i think also that some mylotters notice our faults sometimes just that they are shy enough to correct us or they may sound rude by doing so,that's why they just don't correct those. that's what i think.

I guess, when you correct someone, his english gets improved more and that particular mistake he remembers throughout his life... I mean that is what I experienced myself...!! So, I think it is perfectly ok to correct people or should I say... help people..!!

Of course .I care about my resoponses .Learning english is one of main reasons why i come to mylot .But i don't think it possible to get corrected by English-speakers on mylot.i mean i want to ,but i don't think it is accessible to me .Why should others help you out for no reason ? What's more, they don't even know that i need a hand from them .Do you check other mylotters'nationality when skimming posts at random ?

I don't mind if i'm corrected. for me my native language is tagalog. so that i will learn what mistake did post.

I am a Filipino; English is my second tongue. A wise American friend told me that he appreciates the effort of other countries in trying to speak in his native tongue because he couldnt speak theirs. Does this make you feel better?
