Has the Internet changed your life style or made a difference to your lifestyle? Has it been a Negative impact ( I doubt that ) or a Positive impact or a little of both ...
Talking about myself, I can say that the internet has made a lot of difference to my lifestyle , most of it positive and some negative too...
The major impact is that I was able to utilise whatever little talent I had for writing and earn some revenue through article writing and blog writing and here through discussion sites...This gave me the confidence to explore many more opportunities on line and now I am never bored since the net is always there as a constant companion.
The disadvantage is that initially it brought in a lot of criticism about my spending time on the net instead of doing something useful ( slog in the kitchen, garden wherever , but slog !!! blah blah ...)and , as I became more sure of myself I stated becoming bolder and less caring about people's attitude. It makes me wonder sometimes if this has made some people unhappy with me ....
How about you all ? what has been the imapact of the net on your life style ?

It is correct , the only negative is that I spend extra time on the net, sometimes, the positive side is that I can learn a lot on a daily basis. There is so much available here,my thinking is that the net is beneficial to nearly everyone who can use it wisely.

For me it's had a very positive impact in several ways: for example, it's helped me with schoolwork, I've learned a lot of English (since pretty much all the sites I visit are in English), it's made it possible for me to share my art with others and actually get some jobs, I've been able to meet wonderful friends on messageboards or other sites... and well, even the love of my life too :)
The only bad thing, I guess, is that I spend a lot of time online instead of... dunno, being outside doing something else, hehe. But I work from home so that's not really too much of a problem, I guess.

Both for me. I spend too much time on the internet than I do doing things that are actually important and real. The internet isn't a necessity, nor is laws or houses or anything else we create; we just try and make it sound okay by saying we can't live without it, and therefore try only to make our own lives easier. Along that note, it is a fun place to make friends that you can't really do as much in real life; people around here judge too much and I don't make friends easily with those who will backstab you the moment something goes their way.

Hi sakerx, Internet has to be used wisely otherwise it can take over us.Sometimes what others say may have some truth in it and it is better to analyse and see it before dismissing it.In life, I feel that we ourselves will have to lay down certain rules, so that life becomes balanced and we are doing the best we can for ourselves - all the best and happy mylotting

To me, internet really had made a lot of difference to my lifestyle/social life. Actually, I've been addicted to internet since high school and since then, almost all of my friends now were the chatters I've met online. It's very rare that I have friends I haven't met online. And actually, the effects are both positive and negative. I used to have friends and used to have enemies as well. Being addicted to the internet made me so lazy. I also prefer to stay at home than go out with friends.. It lessen my shopping session as well (i can save money) ... but it caused too much eye bags..

Hi ZeX,Most people have the same views as regards the use of internet - that they get addicted to it.But we can organise our lives in such a manner, so that we are able to fulfill all our duties as well as enjoy using the net.You have to go out for a couple of hours in the evening every day, and once you start this practice it becomes a habit - all the best and have a nice evening

I am sorry to hear that ! But I have seen most youngsters these days using spectacles since almost all educated youngsters use Computer and the internet. Hopefully, in the very near future scientists might come up with something that would protect our eyes against these harmful effects - take care

The internet probably affects most people both ways. Well, for me it does. Positively because when I need to get something out of my mind, I post it on my blog and the strong emotions don't bother that much anymore. When I feel so bored, I could go online, watch a movie or play a game. I could even post my stories, poems and lyrics, too. If writers from years ago used the pen and paper for writing their ideas, I use the internet. Going online also increases my knowledge through the daily updates as well. Likewise, it has also brought negative effects to my lifestyle. Since I've graduated college, I have started becoming a couch potato. I sit in front of my laptop and go online almost all day. I only get out of my seat to eat, bathe and when I have to go out to be somewhere else. My body is taking the toll on my lack of exercise too. Then again, the internet has brought about more of a positive effect to my lifestyle than negative so I'm happy it was invented.

Hi lyn, thanks a lot for your response ! Internet has been a boon to educated, creative housewives who prefer to look after their families and household by not going out to work.If one can plan ones online activities it can be productive....But as you say the tendency is there to spend hours together in front of the computer and forget or put off some important jobs - all the best and have a great evening

The impart is terrific. I can't move a single step without Internet. Even in my travel plan, I keep time reserved for my facebook friends and website updates. It's the medium to stay connected with the globe - learn about people, places and their myriads of cultural diversity. Obviously, as you have referred to - Internet has also opened up the avenue for me to earn few extra bulks each day. I'm still in the process of learning website promotions and content writing. Hopefully someday I'll be able to contribute something of my own - very original - and meet my dreams.

Hi gabs, There are many people like yourselves who have been able to make their lives interesting and be in touch with the world and communicate ...I have a friend who is bed ridden because of some complicated health problems and she can only use her hands. She uses a laptop and is able to be happy and cheerful , making friends, listening to music and chatting with her online friends , gone is her look of unhappiness and bitterness...This is the best thing about the net - all the best to you, enjoy your evening gabs

Hi kiran,
yes internet has changed my lifestyle. Internet is now my part of like. The world is now at my fist. I can visit anywhere of the world when ever I wish. I'm interested to read news. There are many online newspapers. I can gather many information from various site. I have many online friends. Some of them are so close to me. Still I could not explore myself in online writing. I remember your encouragement in this regard. Only negative side of internet is it steals time. I can't do many personal work in time because of computer.

Hi wollivierre, thanks a lot for your response , It is really nice to see how the internet has made so many changes in the lives of individuals. There are many people who are deformed in one way or the other and the net has given them an opportunity to look forward to something worthwhile, make friends and interact sitting at home - it is such a boon to them...

It's made a positive and negative impact on my life. I met my hubby online & I've met lots of fantastic people online. It's also saved me lots of postage as I no longer mail my bills & can see my debts immediately rather than wait for snail mail.
Negative, there's soooo much one can become interested in and enjoy spending too much time doing rather than the things in the real world. Though I think things going mobile with the internet is really making the internet even more so addicting as you can leave your house and still do what you need to do online weather it's more important than whats happening in real life at the moment.

The internet has changed my life qutie a lot for me in the past ten years. It has helped me form relationships, finds jobs, and enhance my qaulity of life. it has changed so many things in my life that it can be hard to belive sometimes. I do not think that there has been anything negitive about it but maybe I an not thinking of that right now.

Hi scififan, I guess most internet users would feel that way since life has changed for most of them after they started using the internet. Most people have only gained in some way or the other, so, the negative influences are not many...thanks a lot for your response and have a great week ahead

I'm not really sure. I have made some good friends online, and met a few. It's allowed me to learn, widened some of my horizons as well as allowing me to find some of the collector's items that I have sought.
On the other hand, I spend less time with 'real' people, and not as much time as I could use looking after the home and so forth. I spend less time in the local community- but that's because I work unsociable hours.
Overall I think that it has been a positive experience.

Hi Memnon, thanks a lot for your views In my opinion ,Most internet users become unsocial to a certain extent including myself.I prefer it this way since it keeps me from getting involved with too many complicated situations in life with friends and relatives.I meet them when I have to...all the best and happy mylotting

I would have to say the internet has been both a positive and a negative. Positive, because I am able to contact alot of my friends through many sites online and have been able to search for ways to make money online very quickly. Negative, because when I am online sometimes I get so caught up reading emails, typing, searching, etc; and I almost completely lose my entire day to it.

Hi kay, thanks a lot for your response. I too feel that many people who have spare time are able to earn online which gives them an added income, but one has to take care to see that we do not get addicted and neglect what is essential in our daily lives...all the best and have a great evening

Tremendous impact! Every time I am away from internet for any reason it feels i am back in stone age, I guess Internet offers so much information and makes my life so easy some times that I wouldn't want to stop having it for any reason.

For me personally, Internet had the same effect has any other technology had. Positive or negative is a perception.
For instance, with Internet, using emails, I am in better touch with my friends. Unlike the days before where you either had to telephone the friends, at awkward times or send a conventional mail if they were far away. This has changed. Then again, the very same email is also a head ache at times, receiving gazillions of spam mails. So it how one looks at the life.
One positive thing I must say in favour of Internet is that is has opened up a whole new world of knowledge. I remember in my younger days, spending hours and days at length trying to find some information on a odd ball subject at libraries. Many times I was the first in and last out at libraries. Still success rates were minimal. Computers and Internet has changed all that.
At the same time I have seen Internet ruining lives. Yes, as harsh as ruining ones life. Addiction to social forums, chatting, gaming has disturbed many lives around the world. I personally know a couple of people. One of them lost everything. His wife, his family, the lucrative cash rich shop in a posh New Delhi neighbourhood, his house ... everything. Just because he was hooked on to chats on Internet.
After all, like anything else in our lives, it's up to us to allow or not allow adverse effect of anything. We have a choice.
Peace be with you.

Hi Guppydas, I think that is an extreme case of internet addiction, where you loose everything because you are hooked on to chats, a bit foolish on the part of the individual not to realise it in time and take corrective measures...I agree that it is in our hands and one cannot blame the net for that...all the best and thanks a lot for your views
