Has anyone ever seen any kind of virus that automatically redirects you to various websites? I use MSN and I clicked on a NEWS story to read, as I often don't read the papers but try to keep up with what's happening via internet.
Now, whenever I use the search option, and I click on the found site, I am redirected to another search engine, or some obscure site. This morning, I searched for the New England Patriots schedule, clicked on their official sight and I was redirected onto some spa site... I can actually see the addresses come up during the process and I can see the word "redirect" in the site address... It's very strange.
What to do... Virus scan, Clean sweap and Adaware have not removed it.
Anyone??? TIA

it's a common thing, i use firefox and it happens so what i do is i uninstall firefox use spybot to scan my pc takes a few hours. after the clean i restart my computer. download a fresh coppy of fire fox and install it and before visiting any websites i install adblock pulse its an addon for firefox that keeps things like that from happening

Thank you for the response, however I don't understand anything you said! LOL
I don't use firefox, what other programs would block/remove these types of problems? I only use Norton Antivirus, Adaware, and regularly do disc clean ups and Clean Sweep... spybot? what's that? anything like "hijack this?"

I've not had a virus that was anything like this. However, the other day I had a virus that did manifest itself on my computer and it was a pain in my tail end to try to get rid of the virus. I tried using all of the antivirus that I already had on my computer and that was to no avail. Now, I finally downloaded a program that searched for the registry keys on my computer and I was able to get rid of the registry keys that were associated with the virus and since then the virus has been gone.
