Why timor timur separate from Indonesia?

As I know...,
The people of east timor felt that he was able to establish a state. Also, the people of timor timur not thank the people of Indonesia in particular Ir.Soekarno which has been freed timor-timur from the colonial Portuguese. We as citizens of Indonesia are very sorry that President BJ Habibie to let east timor independence / off from Indonesia. But nevertheless, we do not weighing the heart. Think of it as a lesson. Do not let the provinces in Indonesia also wanted to liberate themselves. Like Aceh.
What'syour opinion about this historical moment?
Indonesia could be split into several countries?

East Timor was not our real state, it have been write on Gianti or KMB if I'm not wrong.So they have a rights to choose to keep stay or separated with us.Even the referendum seem unfair and many cheating, but we can't do anything except to receive it.
Anyway, they are not rich only wasting our money to build it.
And for Aceh and Papua, yes they are our real states.So we have a rights to keep them not separated from us.Even have to banish the separatism.

I think the very reason why East Timor demanded separation was because they did not feel like becoming part of the country. The former government (I believe you know who he was) was only care of mining East Timor's resources while at the same time it did not care about returning the favor.
