today's top discussions?

I am posting this discussion just to clear some of my doubts about "todays top discussions" section of mylot. Just now I saw a discussion that was posted around 15 hours ago and had only one response to it with no comments, nothing else. Just the main text and a solitary response. And I was surprised to see this discussion on the top of the list on the "Todays top discussions".
Also many a times I have noticed that the discussions in this section disappear with minutes from the rankings. I cant understand the system of choosing top discussions. How a discussion with a single response gets to the top and how fruitful discussions disappear within seconds from the top.....
Can anyone throw some light on my confusion?
Thanks

hi mylot admins evidently has their own reasons for why they pick
today's top discussions and they are not telling us. I really could'car less as I have been there and wondered why me but I did a lot of responses.all I know is when you answer any of them they come b ack
on top again so thats good I just keep on discussing and posting and working and it all comes out okay with me. I do not strive to be
out inf ront so if I am good on me. lol lol lol

Perhaps it was considered by the system as the top because many people view it, but not necessarily make comment or respond. Yeah, Mylot has to be noticed on this, because it iwll surely mislead its members.

i think a discussion that disappears from the list of the today's top discussions within minutes might be because so many discussions are being posted on that one certain topic. mylot has so many members that i can see this being the reason.

That's weird! But maybe it's based on how many people open the discussions even if nobody really comments on them. I think the top discussions are updated every second that is why it get's refreshed every time you move away from it. And it probably depends on rush hour. If nobody else is really online at the moment and maybe just you, even the discussion with just a single response may get into the top discussion... I don't know, hahah! My theory!

Yes it can happen. Because it is depend on a topics and if the topic is good and also rated by many members of mylot then it could be shows in top discussions. I think there are also many discussions that have only 1-2 response but they shows under top discussions. I think it depend on their rating because there are many persons who see the discussion and they rated it but not give response so it shows in under top discussions.

I think the top discussions are chosen from every interest.
The discussion with only one response, may be from a less visited interest. Maybe inside that interest there were two discussions, one with no answers and the other with one answer. So that the top discussion for that interest was the one with one response.

It may be the same reason. Maybe another discussion from the same interest got more responses, so the one that disappeared took the second place.
It's just a supposition. I don't know anything for sure, I couldn't find that information in the FAQs.

I haven't been here for very long but I'm thinking these top discussions are within the individual's interests. They probably disappear when another discussion is started that is getting more views. Well I often reside in the land of confusion myself. I'm planning on running for Mayor and getting a condo there.

I have no idea how they pick the top discussions. That does seem strange tho.

I have noticed the same and, just like their earning system, it seems to be one of MyLot admin’s greatest mysteries so I do not have an explanation. Personally it is not something I really worry about because I like to respond first to my friends’ discussions and later to whatever interests me and I don’t strive for any particular target with my own topics.

I noticed that months ago : any discussion with at least one response can be in the "today's top". I don't know if the top is chosen by a myLot's admin, or randomly...
Anyway, it's a good idea : I find times to times in the top some good discussions that I would have missed without this.

I searched and searched and came back with the same questions. It seems many within the five year existence of myLot have been asking the same question and everyone is coming up with the same similar assumption.
I believe and this and is only from my observations and guesstimated assumption, that it is based on interests and replies to the interest. A top discussion does not necessarily mean it is a discussion started today per say. I have had several top discussions back to back and I did not start them on the same day, more like one from the day before and perhaps one from today. So I believe of the discussion in that category of interests. There were, for sake of discussion, 3 who added comments for my yesterdays discussion and yet today someone added just one another from the same interest category. the one with the one comment now bumped mine off the chart per say.
It is difficult to sort it all out, and believe me I even went to alice's page to search her discussion and came up with nothing.
