Is getting an Ipad worth it?

I was thinking about getting an ipad, but i have realized that it is really just an oversized ipod touch. There are not really any features that are on the ipad that aren't on the ipod touch. Do any of you own an ipad, and if so is it worth it to buy one?

its not worth it actually, its just an oversized ipod touch, then you get to choose if you want one with wifi capabilities or with no wifi capabilities (somewhat even more useless). You need a computer or a laptop to run it. And speaking of computer or laptop. Might as well buy one of those, they're actually cheaper.

sorry to burst your bubble but the options are not Wi-Fi or no Wi-Fi. the options are Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and 3G, 3G meaning that you can have internet anywhere you go for a monthly payment of $15 or $25. The iPad is a good device only if you have the money because it is kind of expensive. There should be a new iPad coming out soon so you can wait for it. The iPod only has a Wi-Fi capability but the iPad has a Wi-Fi and 3G capability. It's really your choice.

I see, that is what the salesman told me when I was buying. He was like no wifi is cheaper but add P1000 and you get wifi. Either way... I've more important things to buy than iPad, so I didn't bother researching much on it.

No!!it is not worth at all!!i think your impression is good so in many cases you can consider the ipad a kind of ipod touch/iphone with a big screen in relation to these device!!So it is not a pc because the procssor is too low, just 1ghz common to many smartphones for example,so you can't have enough power to elaborate complex dates or uuse your favourite sodtwares that you can have simply on a netbook(it would be cost less than ipad!!),you can't call because this function isn't enabled, you can't play games because configuration is too low..you an't install freeware softwares because the apple os is really closed...so what can i do with ipad?mmmh reading boks everyday?mmh it isn not serious ..buyiing appl to appl store?after you pay a big price you should spend money to buy appls so?So the real question is who needs the ipad?nobody i guess also because a small and cheap netbook can do much more than this device..so..

If you're thinking about getting an ipad, I would wait till blackberry playbook comes out. As far as functionality wise, you can get a lot more for the money with blackberry playbook then you do with ipad. Nice thing about blackberry playbook is that you can link it to blackberry & use data that's included in your plan. You don't have to pay extra for it. Also, once you link your playbook to your blackberry, all the functions of blackberry can be used on your playbook. I tend to agree with a comment about ipad being an over-sized ipod. Wi-fi capability is the only thing seperates it from being an ipod. Oh, wait, you can read books on it. Great... I have a laptop for that. Better yet, I have books on my shelves for that.

It may not be worth it now, but once Apple enhances the Ipad with new features, then the Ipad may be worth it. Note that the Ipad is still pretty young, let it develop into something grand. You may buy the Ipad now then 2 months later (Companies always have new releases during Christmas time) something bigger and better than the Ipad may come out.

I agree with you I think it might be better just waiting for the second iPad to come out. I heard it'll have a camera or two.

An iPad is worth buying if you use the internet a lot, because you can get a version that has 3G capability. There really aren't much different features than the iPod touch unless you compare it to the iPod touch 4, which has two cameras and retina display which is 326 px per inch. The new iPad should have a camera or two and will most likely have the retina display that the iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4 have. If you have any questions feel free to ask. It all really comes down to your liking. I hope that whatever decision you make you are happy.

I'm considering getting an ipad too, but i realized the same thing that you did. it's similar to ipod touch and ipod touch now is much better because it has a camera while the ipad doesn't. and what's more, blackberry is coming out with a blackberry playbook which is way much better than an ipad and it has a camera. So i guess I'll just wait for the playbook to be released by 2011 and compare the two. As of now, getting an ipad is not practical at all, unless you are a techie who doesn't want to be left behind.
