Hello Mylotters, this morning, i was in the mrt train going to work when i realize that almost 80% of the places we have passed through already are buildings! I don't see much trees anymore.. and its sad that i already know why we had floods, why we feel it is too damn hot during the day... because we are replacing nature with buildings, with trees with aircons.. =( its sooo sad really that this is happening.. Do you still see lots of trees in your neighborhood?

i live in the outskirts that's why i can still see lots of trees in our neighborhood. i bet in the central capital there are almost no trees anymore - just tall buildings and condominiums. i wish though that big parks with lots of trees would be built within the the cities, since it's almost impossible for people living in the city to have their own trees.. we all need fresh air!

Hi Chiyosan!.
What really make sad is around my neighborhood is just few three leave because the are development so massif so they don't have any room to grow a three.
Like my house we don't have open space to grow a three so we just can just grew vegetable in container.

You would still see trees while riding the MRT but they're few of course. You'll only see them in residential lots along EDSA though. But hey, the MRT line is situated in EDSA because it's the avenue which offers access to a lot of industries where people obviously work and go to everyday. That's why of course you won't get to see a lot of trees because the train leads you to industrial places. I live in Quezon City and there's still a lot of trees, just not on the highways. There also are a lot of trees in the other cities in Metro Manila, and again, just not along highways.
With regard to the flooding, having few trees is not the problem. People's lack of discipline is. They throw their trash along the street which gets stuck in drainage and accumulate them until they clog the waterway. Drainage system is also another problem and the situations of the streets. Nature is definitely alive in Metro Manila, you just wouldn't see them in industrial spots.

Yes os sad, but we can't do any thing to it, because this society are progressing need the tall building to accommodate more people and to save more room. May be for this time the tall meaning good the tall meaning advantage. you have found the bad side of this develop direction. I think you have unique thought and sustainable view. do you know lot of developed countries are trying back to the nature and pursue close to the nature, maybe little late, but if you have a chance bake to the village your will feel its paradise.

Around Texas, when they build a neighborhood, they plant at least 3 trees in each yard (my house had 4) so after a few years the trees are big and pretty - my neighborhood is about 30 yrs old and looks nice now. I drove thru a neighborhood I grew up in that is (gasp) about 50 yrs old and it looks really nice!
