All of us except atheists believe in the existence of God.Every religion proclaims that God is omniscient , omnipotent, omnipresent and all merciful and with all good qualities only. But all religions do not worship a single God.They perceive God in their own way.Does it mean that there are different Gods and each religion has its own God.If there is only one God does He belong to particular religion. If so what is his religion?or God exists only in the minds of the people and has abstract form.We all believe that He is all powerful and if so how does he exercise His powers and in what forms. All these ideas are more confusing than clear. Please enlighten me

I believe that there could be a higher being, and chose to think that there is, but I highly doubt that that higher being is using us to play its own version of the sims. There is still much unexplained in the world, and religion is a good way to teach right from wrong, and to connect people. My dad believes that humans create god in their image, instead of us being created in god's image. That explains why there are so many versions of god. There is no one right answer as to which is the true god. My dad's explanation also takes into the fact that if we were all created in god's image, there would not be so many differences in people.

your dad's arguments sound reason. We are all children of God.As children of mother fight among themselves we also fight on the basis if religion.I wish there is no religion at all in this world and each individual should be identified not with reference to religion with the depth of love he holds towards others. That is ll...

God does not belong to a religion, the religion belongs to God. The point is not to own God but to be owned by Him. Many religions claim God as their own but many of their precepts are the precepts of Man. The only way to truly find your way is to search and find God and ask Him which of all the churches is His and then listen to the still small voice that replies in your heart and in your mind. Remember, God will always make sense and He belongs to no man. We belong to Him.

Your perception of God is correct. He does not belong to any one.On the other hand we all belong to him.We have made discrimination which He has not made .We fight but He does not want us to fight.God is one is wonderful theory but unfortunately many do not accept,Life goes on like this...

I believe that G-d is the same being , He/She just has many different forms and names. In other words We ,religious people, All are worshiping the Being. But for some people He/She is splintered into many different forms. For Others He is a Holy Trinity. And other He is just One, all imcopassing Being. And we All are correct. Every Religion is The Right path. Ther are Many , many paths. If you need or want, pick one and be faithful. so To answer your wquestion G-d Belongs to All religions.

Agreed! And I would add that no one can force anyone to believe what they don't Really believe in their heart. There are many just go through the motins because they were forced as a child but do they Really belong? Is their religion Truly in their hearts? I don't think so.

Therefore God is one and different religions attribute different forms to him to suit their convenience. As you say one has liberty to choose any form he likes and worship.Choice is left to individuals irrespective of the religion he belongs to.But the problem is with religious heads who enforce their views and many fall prey to them.God is above all religions. That is the gist of this discussion.....

I'm just saying it would be crazy if that were true. After all those wars the worshipers have caused, and then once they reach heaven, they see how all their choices were wrong, that would be pretty ironic and crazy.
So what's the question of religious wars? Are you saying that it's there just so someone can 'bell the cat'!?

Excuse me...I am not able to understand what you are saying.Do you mean to say that people belonging to one faith should worship Good of another faith. If that were to happen where is the question of religious wars among us.So you advocate universal brotherhood which is an excellent idea. But who is there to bell the cat?.....

I don't believe that God belongs to a particular religion or race. That would amount to nepotism. I personally don't believe in religion but I do believe in a higher power, that there is some guiding power around me.

God is what a human being perceives. If a person perceives that higher power to be God,then that becomes a guiding power for him. It all boils down to personal faith. Faith is nothing else but believing in unseen.
I agree with chayapathys. The argument about God and to whom does it belong must be bought to a close as there is no sense arguing about it. Religion is one of the major reasons for fights, wars around the world. I hope humans realize the futility of their actions one day.

God is above all religions. But strangely every religion identifies its own God and thus trouble starts.Of course every one has to believe supernatural power which we may call God.Then why people should fight on the basis of religion. When we go on arguing there will be no end and at some stage or the other we have to close the arguments. That is all I know....

God is only one, but every religion or we can say that every person interprets Him differentlty. God hasn't made any religion, people made them, being influenced by many factors. These factors can be related to different interpretation of God, money, power or culture. I cannot say what religion is the best, but I am satisfied with mine and I plan to stay in this religion till I die. But I don't argue with others regarding to their religion, because it is a personal right of everybody to belong to what religion he wants or has inherited from his parents. I believe that if somebody is not able to keep the religion he/she born in, then he/she won't be good in other religion either. But this is only a personal opinion and I cannot be very categorical.

You are perfectly correct. God does not belong to any religion. He is above all religions and all religions belong to Him only .He created human beings and not religions but human beings created religions for their convenience only. For your information I have also marked your response as the best..may God bless you...

Hi chayapathys, The truth my friend is that you must enlighten yourself. Do you think for one minute that you can get an answer here? Everyone will just try to bring you around to their way of thinking. Personally, I don't think that it matters what you believe as no one religion is right but all have some truth. The basic concept of the golden rule is to treat others the way that you want to be treated, live with that thought and it doesn't matter if you believe in God or you are an atheist. Blessings.

Please view this as only academic discussion and it has no personal touch. Here you can express what you feel.We are not here to make others feel the same way as we feel. I pray that this discussion be not be personalized with any particular faith or person.Let us hear what others have in their mind though their practice is different for various reasons.....We may not reach a conclusion as you say but I think it not waste of time...

You seemed to describe God pretty good actually! I do not think God belongs to any one religion. He probably hates religion. But in one way since He is omniscient He is in all religions as well!

You have correctly understood the spirit of the discussion. There is only One God.He has no religion and in fact He is above all religions and all religions belong to Him.He created human beings and not religions. But human beings created religions which has now resulted in fighting and killing one another.Should we quarrel on the basis of religions.Does God relish this?Certainly NO..As you rightly said He is omniscient and hence belongs to all religions......

That is a deep question, because every religion has their own God. But as a Christian, I believe God belongs to Christianity. I will always hold this belief no matter the case. No one could persuade me to believe anything different. I was born and raised in my belief, and believe Christianity is the only real religion, and all others are false.
But since I am not the only person on this Earth, I understand that everyone has a different opinion. Every religion believes their religion is the only true religion with the only true God. And you probably have a different religion then me, so I can't be the judge.
Therefore, I would have to say this answer is in the hands of the beholder. And I hope everyone respects my opinion just as much as I respect theirs.
Have a good day Chayapathys.

What you say is correct. That is to say every one is born in a particular religion and develops faith in its teachings .There is nothing wrong.AS you rightly said if every one accepts that it is the way of living for others also.If people confine to their faith there is no problem. But it is not so as we see in real practice. Then there would be no wars on the basis of religions. But History is full of religious wars. How to account for that....

I don't think God belongs to a religion and I don't think that we are made in the image of God. The Universe is big, if that is the case and humans are the only race... Then the whole Universe sucks... A big waste of space. Most religion focus on God and humans, if that is the case then that would be unfair to the aliens. Plus... Religion is man-made. If so then God being a part of religion means that God is man-made.
@chayapathys (2111)

According to you as religion is man made so also God is man made. But we all believe that we are all created by God only. The question of aliens is different because we have not yet fully recognized their very existence. Here we are concerned whether God belongs to a particular religion as different religions have different definitions of God.Therefore can we conclude that God is above all religions and He has no religion as such.

i think god is one but all different religions have a different name for god. if god would have belonged to a particular religion then each religion will have its own god and it will mean that different persons are blessed by different god's and also then there would have been a quarrel between the gods like we here on earth fight in the name of god(i need not give examples, its quite obvious).
so i want to articulate that the god is one and religions only tend to give different name to the almighty god

You say there is only one God.If all religions accept there is one and same God for all of us why should there be quarrel among us on the basis of religion .But history is full of religious wars. What is wrong and where? If it is only in the thinking of man Why not God the all supreme interfere and clear their misunderstanding. How can He be a passive witness to all religious wars and killings. Is anything wrong with God Himself.....

There is only one God but different religions worship Him in different ways.On this score we should not fight on the basis of religion.God created human beings with good intention that they all live together happily. But human beings created religions which has resulted in quarrels and killings. It is really pitiable. Why should go against the wishes of God. Let us show mutual respect and live happily together...

God does not belong to a particular religion, god is characterized as a creator, someone higher than use, watching over us. The word "god" does not relate to aicu particular religion at all.

To you God is above all religions and He is a creator of all of us.If your theory is acceptable to all why should there be wars on the basis of religion .Therefore your view is your own. Thus there is freedom of thinking and believing which is the root cause of all our troubles.Suppose there is no religion in this world will there be religious wars and killings. Therefore the solution lies in developing universal love among us all .The question is WHO will do this?...

I do not believe God belongs to one religion. He loves all of his children. He just wants us to follow him and to do our best to love him and have faith in him. I only believe in on God the one who wrote the bible and I try real hard to have faith when my faith is tested.

Yes.you are correct. There is only one God and He does not belong to any religion. He is above all religions and all religions belong to Him.But fanatics fight for no reason.God created human beings and not religions but human beings created religions which has resulted in quarrels and killings. We should all have mutual respect and then only there will be real peace on this earth.

Yes. You are right. There is only on God.He is above all religions and all religions belong to Him.For the sake of convenience or for some other reason different religions advocate different ways of worshiping God. God created human beings but not religions. But religions are created by human beings.First you should believe in the existence of God and that God is only one.Let us not fight on the basis of religion. It is not His wish that we fight among ourselves in the name of religions.Let us not do any thing against His wishes....

You have every freedom to view things as you like. There is no bar or any restriction for your thinking. As we see every religion advocates prayer to God.We all follow and only atheist do not believe in God and atheist are there in every religion.God does not belong to a particular religion and all religions belong to Him in the sense He is above all religions. He is only the creator of human beings and human beings created religions to suit to particular time and particular region.Let us all live happily with mutual respect to each other....

God loves us all. The only problem is, our interpretation of God. Our interpretation varies. What we need to do is, for God to belong in us, is to follow His love for us, to love one another. Don't make war, especially of religion. Let us make peace.

God may be known in different names from different religions but it is the same God all people from different religion are referring to. There is only one God though he was given various names, depending on the language that we are using and in accordance to his will. Don't get confused about how may Gods we have. No matter what your religion is, if you believe God, I am sure you believe the same God I believe. God Bless you! ^_^
