Are you afraid cockroaches? what do you do with them?

Yesterday night we were kept awake until after midnight trying to find one cockroach that went into our room. Both me and my husband are very afraid of these creepy crawlies. They are ugly and they could carry some form of germs. I certainly don't want it to creep over my mouth or anywhere on my body when I am having my beauty sleep.
So, after 45 minutes of looking for it, we managed to spot it and killed it with an insect spray. We spent another 10 minutes tidying up our room because we have turned our room upside down just to search for it. So, how do you deal with cockroaches? are you bothered by having them around your house?

Where I live, cockroaches ppear when rain starts and there´s humidity around. I buy a spray and seal with it all the doors and windows of my house. I loathe them so I don´t wait until they come into the house. But I know it depends onwhere you live. There are places where my method would not work.

i also wouldn't be able to sleep with a cockroach inside my room. i absolutely hate cockroaches - they're a nuisance, especially flying cockroaches! i am disgusted by cockroaches - they bring all sorts of germs. they also bite so i hate them even more. i'd swat them with a slipper - no second thoughts!

I am not so afraid of the cockroaches. However, if they fly suddenly, then I will be very scared. Sometimes I will let my husband to fix it. Or I will use some poison to get rid of the cockroaches.

I wouldn't necessarily say that I am afraid of cockroaches. they definitely are not something i look forward to seeing. they do creep me out just a bit. If I am faced with one, i usually go about finding the best way to rid myself of it.

I am TERRIFIED of cockroaches. I have been blessed to not have witnessed too many of them in my life, but whenever I do, I feel instant uneasiness. I was over a friend's house one day and I literally watched 5 or 6 cockroaches lift a plate that had a half-eaten slice of pizza on it. It disgusted me so bad that I had to leave. I cannot eat comfortably over people's houses that have roaches, either.

I really hate, despise, and am totally grossed out by cockroaches. Anything that can live for days after its head has been chopped off, or could survive a nuke being set off, cannot do any good in my house. My first line of defense is a clean house. No crumbs, then nothing to feed the little buggers. I spray the outside of my house with a chemical every few weeks during the warmer months. I have not seen one in my house since we first moved into it over 3 years ago. At school, I usually smack them with my shoe, or have one of the boys do it.
