this company i am working at right now gave us contract stating that salary for foreigners are to be released not later than the 5th day of every month. very annoying, the finance department has all the repeated reasons in the world to delay the release of our salary. they would wait for the weekend before they hurry up finishing the approval of the final check. on the fifth day of the month they would say, the check is in the bank, there is no dollar in the cashier now, and they would reason out, it's not our fault. it's the bank's fault because they still have the money. i always feel awful for us OFWs. apart from being exhausted at work, we have already used up our reserves, and to find out all these delays in salary. God i just can't stand it when my family worries me they have no more budget at hand. and so with me, i am fearing that they can't eat a day or two without me sending them my salary as soon as i receive it.

That's what I really hate when working, although I've experience that once only when my boss can't make it to have the check signature, next day we are able to get our salary. If that happens often I will immediately resign and go get another job.

like i said, it happens to me (to all of us working in this hospital) every month and we can't do anything but to talk about it among us. because this is the only way we can somehow release our stress from a delayed salary. more importantly about this issue is that supposed we can send allowance to our family back in the philippines. that's why we are always worried when will the next salary be released again. hays. maximum tolerance. but this doesn't work. it should be, don't bother about your tolerance, just wait for the day they will release the salary. sadly.

yup. you are right. i have to start over again from the philippines. but i will have to choose a better option. it's actually disadvantageous to apply and accept an agency's offer immediately. where there is another possible and better option from the government - poea. i'll have to consider this first this time. it takes some bad experience before we learn though. charge it to experience then. lol.

I know it's not that easy to find job when you are already abroad and under an agency, it's much easier to get another job when you are in the Philippines. To think that you work in an hospital, the salary should not be delay. I think that hospital should change their admin staff.

How you feel is very understandable as I also have family members, they live in a small village and they are also depending even not all the time, but I do need to give them some money when I get my salary. I don't see any reason why a salary should be delayed as it is not fair to the worker at all. They work hard and patient until they reach the day where they can expect to receive their pay, but how disappointing it is to find out that you are not going to get paid that day. It is just awful and unfair, staff and workers also want to leave and not just the company.

It is easy to say, I will leave the company. In my company, many who cannot leaves are the people around 35 yrs with a family. At whatever circumstances, they have to tolerate and at the management mercy. Fairness is what we believe, but the management will think otherwise when their own needs are not fulfiled first, the most we can do as an employee is to setup a worker union ? I think it should do the work rather than an individuals who screams by himself to obtain fairness, a collective voice towards these type of irresponsible management.

Yes sometimes I feel bad when salary is delayed by offices. I think a company should always give salary on time but when they delayed it then many employees feel bad like me. Because only salary is the way for them to doing something good and also purchasing some good things. And also it needs of family. Because there are also many employees who have family and their family always depended on their salary. So it is not bad when salary is delayed.

you got me confused there anurag. because you were agreeing in the beginning that salary delay affects the whole family and the employee itself by delaying their needs as well. and suddenly, you ended yourself with it is not bad when salary is delayed. well, i think you meant to say it is actually bad and frustrating to delay salary.

I hate it as well when salary is delayed. I am not too sure about other situation, even I have my salary on time, the minute is released, I have already used 80% off to clear my debts. I don't know how to cope with this situation. I am draining out already. But I believe, after this big event, I hope I will start to see to my finance properly, else I will be suffering each and every month and won't do me any good to my health. If this goes out of hand, I must do a part time job and not doing things like myLot which doesn't bring any significance to the extras at all. I am just waiting for the correct time.

I guess I can cope when my salary is delayed considering I don't need it because I am only a kid. But I can't imagine as an adult how that would be like especially if you plan it out to survive till the next pay period. That is just awful

imagine how you can go to school without your packed snack or allowance for your lunch break. or simply, the cafeteria at your school is closed for an hour and you are dying to have at least a sandwich. but this is more than thinking about yourself. it's about your family you should provide their food. you'll learn these things when your at the right age. enjoy childhood.
