What passes off as good news these days?

I was at the production floor the last week, just ‘shooting the breeze’ with the guys on the floor. We asked around for news, and one of the guys sarcastically said that he has good news. That he made rent for this month.
We just laughed about it, but inside I was little bit perturbed. I asked myself, is this what passes off as good news? Are we really that dire, that some things we take as regular things are even harder to achieve. For example, making rent.
Made me think of my situation. I made it through September, and I guess that is good news for me! How about you? What passes of as good news for you?

I consider as good news the developments that has been happening on the cases that I'm handling. I guess I am too much "in love" with being a lawyer, that every pleading, every hearing, every chance to practice what I've learned really matters to me and makes me giddy. I'm always psyched to make a pleading, research on cases that will support my arguments... I'm still on this stage of idealism as to my profession. Sometimes though, I worry that I'm becoming a workaholic. :p

News flash arystine! You are not 'becoming' and workaholic, you are already one!
I guess you are still in the honeymoon phase of your career. And everything that comes your way is good news, even the twists and turns. I hope you enjoy it as long as you can!

What passes me as good news for this week is finalizing a job offer and moving off to this company. What passes me as good news also is getting my exit letter from my employee so that they acknowledge that i am leaving and do not create any trouble for me..

Definitely I will pray for you for a good recovery. When we are sick, a good health is definitely what we will wish for. And for others when they believe that health is something that comes free and without effort and not believing that it is the most important aspect to continue on living happily, try experience once when you fall really ill. I pray that one day, you may recover and enjoy a healthy and fruitful life.

Isn't that good news though? Pessimistic, slightly scary, but good news at the same time. We wouldn't want this guy to get evicted or something now, would we? lol. Good news for me.. Is that.. I am not late on any of my payments as of right now. I guess that is good, considering "the recession" (and how poorly I seem to manage my cash flow). hahah.

Outside of being able to keep my sanity on a daily basis, I truly have no good news to share with anyone. Since the loss of my job 9 months ago I have a really bad and hard time. It is almost like I am worthless or something as my what I though were true friends for some reason decided that I am no longer worthy as no one has ever checked to even say hello or how are you. I make no efforts to check with them as I am the one dealing with my circumstances and well have nothing new to share with anyone and since they have not felt compelled to check with me, I suppose I would have nothing to contribute.
So my only new news I have dear friends is that God allowed me to breath again today.

I guess you really know who your friends are in times of crisis. I'm sorry that who you thought were your real friends, couldn't even find the time to check up on you.
It is really sad.
Well, I hope that you keep your sanity for more and more days, and that I keep seeing your discussions and responses here in myLot!

Thank you bounce I surely appreciate your kind words. I will continue my prayers and hang on to my faith. As I have a New Found Life, which I must accept and the Lord keeps me going daily.

Anything that doesn't hurt is good news. And anything that isn't life threatening or hurtful to the people in my family and the people that I love.

Yes, this is also one piece of news I hope not to receive anytime of the day, anytime of my life. I know we cannot control accidents and tragedies, but I do pray each and everyday, may be a peaceful and a wonderful day.

Mine is sport related. I have three! One, Philly fan was classy, they gave Donavan McNab a standing O Before the game! Second. The Redskins Won that game. It turned out into a " How do you like mer now?" game! I love those. I love to see a player show the suits he Still can play! And third. The Giants won?!! I thought they would get beat Down by the Bears but they won!

I guess I am the same. That most of my good news is sports related. Although football is back, and that helped alleviate some of the needs I have for good news, I am still holding my breath for the start of the hockey season.
Just a few more sleeps, and we're back baby!
Funny how Philly fans gave McNabb a standing O, while they boo Santa Claus.

Right now for me it's just that we are able to pay our bills. We are doing a lot better then some of the people I talk to on here, so we really don't have much to worry about. We still stress though because we'd like to earn more. As I've said in my own discussion, when winter comes if it's harsh and he can't get to work then there may be a bill or two that we aren't able to pay or presents we aren't able to buy. I have a feeling I am worried a little too much, but I am not sure, I'd rather have more money anyway, just for next year.
It's sad when good news is being able to pay rent for another month. I tell you when we're younger and not paying bills we truly don't understand how hard the bill payers have it. Rent for a nice apartment is $600.00 and some people only make $800.00 a month so that's really pushing it.
