I was out with my boyfriend the other day looking for ice cube trays. Walmart did not have them and neither did dollar store ort Ollies but K-mart did only two packs left and only one kind! Are you finding hard to find ice cube trays anymore?
Thanks and have a great day!

I think it is a seasonal thing. You usually cannot find them past the first of August. I have not needed to buy any in a long long time though.

Hello GardenGerty,
I never thought of that and that is a good point. But like other people said many of the refrigerators now come with ice machine built in. I bought mine without because it be less parts breaking down and the price was cheaper. On a side note I am glad Sidetick drop doing that survey deal and we are back to normal there.
I you are having a fun fall time and do you decorate for Halloween? I do a little bit not as much when my children were younger.
Thanks for the reply and have a great day!

Hello, Unique.:)
I find this amusing. :) I checked your profile to see where you are exactly located and it surprises me that you are from the USA. Whoa! No ice cube trays there????
I was about to suggest to look in the grocery sections of number of malls in my country that got plenty of ice cubes, but, no can do in your case.:(
So, needless to say, I don't have such problem here. :) In my country, Philippines, where we get to experience a warm to hot weather any month of each year something like an ice cube tray is a necessity in every household. So we can get it from any other grocery stores or malls here.:)

Some times you can check out your local Dollar Store. They will have some in the back if you are lucky and ask some one to check. Any way that is how I finally got my hands on some.
BTW unique16 I wonder how much shipping would be for those of us that can't wait for summer to arrive again to see ice cube trays again :D

Hello eurekafemme,
Yes, I think it is pretty funny that I live in the United States and cannot find Ice cube trays too. I baffeled me for awhile but it like the type writer when the computer came on board and they were low enough in price that the average person can buy one now. Therefore the type writer went to the way side or consider antique now. I am glad in the Philippines you have them. I will look in my grocery store maybe they will have them that is good point.
Thanks for the reply and have a great day!

That's an interesting thing to bring up because yes, I have noticed it is hard to find ice cube trays. I know companies think we all have fridge's with ice making capabilities, but we don't. The last ice cube tray I found was at the dollar store - in another state! lol The places to put the ice were in heart shapes, so I had heart shaped ice.

Hello AmbiePam,
I am glad other people are finding it hard to find ice cube trays too. yes, i agree about all the new refrigerators have the ice machine built in. I bought mine without it because of the cheaper price and less parts breaking down etc..
That is very cool about the heart shape ice cube trays.
Thanks for the reply and have a great day!

Hi. unique16. I have not looked for ice trays in a while as of now. I bought some ice trays about, three years ago, I think. All of them were damaged as we have moved. So I had to throw them all away. I do know that during the summer and spring time, many stores have cheap ice trays that they may carry. You may have to check around this time of the year then for ice trays.

I think maybe the stores figure the sales of the ice cube trays were diminishing and decided it wasn't worth it to sell them anymore. That does tend to happen a lot to all kinds of different products. My local store doesn't sell them either. But when I looked around a thrift store they had a whole bunch of them. lol.

Hello nijolechu,
Yes, I agree with you but many of us still have refrigerators without ice making machines. It just like type writer when the computers came on board the average person was able to by one. Now there hardly any typewriters you can buy anymore.
It was just amazing the how we took this for granted thinking they awlays be at the stores. Thanks for your reply.

IKEA has lots of them. I've bought the star shaped ones and they also have hearts, plain cubes and others. Maybe they haven't restocked at Walmart and Kmart and the dollar store just doesn't have them (?). I don't know, I never had trouble finding them.

Hello Christinelle,
Our closeest Ikea is like a good 45 minutes away. I just thought our local stores would still carry ice cube trays. You see his and my regrigerator do not have ice making machines. I bought mine that because I thought there be less part breaking down and the price was cheaper compared to the ones with ice making machine built in etc...
Thanks for your reply.
Have a great day!

I think odds are it may be considered a seasonal item. I know not many people would be wanting them in the colder months so why keep them on the shelf all year. Though one would think it's such a common object they would not be difficult to find.

Wow. I did not know this. I guess with more and more refridgerators having automatic ice makers they are being phased out. I still have some that my mom used when we were kids. They are metal with a lever in the middle that you pull up to help release the ice. It's pretty cool.

Hello ThomasVH,
Thanks and I think we will do that next time. His refrigerator does not have a ice making machine and neither does mine. I bought it that because less parts will be breaking down and the price was cheaper by this refrigerator. I guess it like the type writer since the majority of us computers. Low and behold my boyfriend does not a computer either. He does not have a need for one.
Thanks and have a great day!
