I was wondering if anyone has used a Netbook for voice to text purposes. I have an old beater Toshiba with a messed up keyboard and it is time to think about about an upgrade. I plan on doing a lot of writing and think dictation may be the easiest way to go about it. The main reasons for considering a Netbook is size, battery life, and portability. Would a Netbook have the basic power and ability to support voice to text applications?

I have an acer netbook my self. I have not thought about installing voice to text service, I may look into it as well. I use to train employees at a radiology facility how to use speect to text on pc, it is a bit time consuming as you have to train the program to your voice but in the long run it is a time saver. Good luck

I was actually thinking about using it to write articles for Buksia and Triond. I seem to do better if I dictate rather than type. The typing this is rather obvious to anyone who follows my post....

@shakitik, The software I use to use is a medical speech to text. But I do recall another member on here who uses a different type of software, he says he likes it, although I myself have not tried that one. Here is the one he uses: http://www.naturalreaders.com/index.htm Enjoy!

Yes, a netbook HAS the ability to support voice to text applications. I have an Acer Aspire netbook and it can run these kind of programs without efforts! If you want to be sure for programs that need more resources, just check out the minimum requirements of that application.
