i read about this latest tackle and from what i here at the moment he isn't in the international team. For me he should hang up his boots. NO..... not on another players chest or anywhere else, lol, but give up the sport completely as he is a dangerous player.

This is the style of Nigel de Jong, I remember when he kicked Xabi Alonso in the chest and was not sent off. He deserved it then, but Spanish players have also had luck against Germany in the European Championship final when David Silva headbutted Lukas Podolski and he wasn't even given a yellow card. If you don't remember it, you can search in youtube to watch it. Write "David Silva headbutt" and you will find the video to see this. I am sure that if Rosetti would have sent off Silva, then Germany would have won the European title.
Back to de Jong, I have seen the tackle against Ben Arfa, but I don't think he was bad intended. He is a bit rudimentary, but I don't think that he wanted to injure Ben Arfa. It doesn't really looked as a foul, but it was a very intense tackle. I think that it was quite unfortunate for Ben Arfa. De Jong got his foot pinned in the ground and that is why he broke his foot. But it wasn't such a harsh tackle as Eduardo or Ramsey have suffered.

I saw the incident in the match against Newcastle. My first reaction was it was a straight red. On replays I thought may be a marginal red with definitely a yellow for it. What does the referee do, not a card, not even a free kick!! That was really horrible decision. I think players like De Jong need to be curtailed otherwise they are a threat to other professional footballers!!
Cheers!

His karate kick on Alonso looked painful and violent, but i doubt it was actually as dangerous as the tackle on ben arfa. DOUBLE leg break, that's career ending a lot of the time. He's lucky to jsut be dropped from his national team, I think the prem league should stamp this out of the game. Every year, there's always a bad leg break grom those tackles.

That martial art kick on Alonso is ridiculous. Second behind Cantona's flying kick in my opinion.

It was a bad tackle at the weekend but I don't believe De Jong went out to Injure Ben Arfa there. I think it's a little harsh to drop him from the Dutch Squad.

Don't know how may people remember this, but in March De Jong injured Stuart Holden with a killer tackling, during a friendly match against the US. A friendly match! How many bad injuries do you see in those?
But there seems to be some justice after all. I've read that Van Marwijk (coach of the Dutch team) did not call De Jong for the next two matches, saying that he seriously disapproved of such behavior. He also said he wanted to have a serious discussion with De Jong before re-calling him to the national squad.

Unfortunately, both the manager and assistant manager at Manchester City are defending him! This is ridiculous.
