Surveillance cameras are becoming more and more common these days. They are placed in strategic places such as grocery stores, banks, ATMs, redlights, etc to deter crimes. However some people object to this type of surveillance because it is invading their privacy.
The UK is probably a country with the most surveillance cameras in the world. Everywhere you go in the UK you will see surveillance cameras or CCTVs.
Recently they have gone one step further which is to outsource the job of monitoring from an operator to web surfers. A new website called Internet eyes http://interneteyes.co.uk/ allows web surfers in the UK to help monitor and identify crime from CCTVs placed in business premises. When someone is able to identify a crime they will be rewarded.
What do you guys think about this new trend of crowdsourcing which even goes into the are of security or surveillance? Do you think this will work? What if people conspire to create fake crime/shoplifting in order to get reward money? Don't you think that this actually will encourage crime as opposed to deter it?

I think though some people may object for interfering in their privacy but is there any other better way to prevent as well as detect crime, especially the terrorist activities. I also believe no one will dare to commit any fake crime or shoplifting for being rewarded because first of all he will be punished after being detected by those cameras.
