0.15cents Article...Is This A Joke?

I am a web content writer and been writing online for
five years now. There are sites that offer online writers
$2, $3, $4, a bit less or a bit more per 200-300 word articles. For
writers who are capable of writing articles in a short
time and able to earn quick, that is a good money.
I have been checking every now and then the tasks here
and I noticed task givers who would pay few cents for
a 300-500 word articles. I was surprised that there are
members who would take offers like this. This is like
underestimating your own ability and intellect as a
writer. I cannot blame though those who would accept such tasks
in the desire to accumulate small earnings little by
little.
Personally though, I won't take such offer. I would
prefer to post responses and discussions to earn that
amount rather than do brain-storming for an article in the
price of .15cents.
What about you? Share your opinion.

Hi wealthymouli, I don't know where you are from
but Helium and Associate Content work well with
US residents and writers. Triond is a good site
as well but you need to really write there regularly.
Triond pays cents also but the thing is your article
earns as long as the site exists. Product Review sites
like Review Stream and Shared Reviews also work well with
some writers. I love Shared Reviews. There are other
sites that I am in but exclusive for Australian residents.
So keep on discovering other sites and enjoy writing.
This is all just a matter of finding the right sites.
Goodluck! :-D

Hi claire87, I used to write for a friend's site.
I also like writing articles for Sharonbucks here
when she used to pay upto $4-4.50 per article.
I write product reviews as well for SHared Reviews
although they used to pay per page views, votes, etc.

I think this is a real joke if you write a few hundreds words article just for 0.15 cent. I think the person who offer such an offer is either too smart to give such a offer or too idiot to give such an offer. For me, I will not entertain this kind of JOKE.

I should say "too smart" because writers from countries
where the exchange rate of US$ is high would grab the
opportunity. .15 cents in some countries could be good
enough to buy them a meal. My only point is that a
writer's article that long, especially if it's well
written could worth more than just .15, isn't it?
Thanks for responding.

Some of us are beginners in online business. Some have been there for centuries. The basic truth is that some people are writing not for moneysake, but popularity. Others do it for share joy of writing. Some of them undertake such contracts for getting experience. Situation warants. It is better to have something doing than to sitting idle.

Hi SamShima. I agree with you. That was also
my thought when I was starting to explore online.
I just sincerely hope good and serious writers online
can find much more better opportunities to get paid
for their work without being exploited. This is all
a good learning experience. Thanks for responding.

You cannot blame beginners like me. But thanks for the information anyway. This is the right place for beginners maybe. They might not even expect for high payment like you do because you are quite long in this kind of business. Probably they are only after of the experience they can get from writing of something they could not even imagine they will get paid.

Hi astroval. No blaming involved here lol!
I understand. Mylot is also the first place where
I started to experience earning online. From here
I have learned a lot. Mylot is a very good site
to mingle with other online earners and learn.
Good luck!

I think people should only write when their work are well compensated. Not everybody can produce a well written article and for that reason writers can demand for good payment for their works. Getting chicken feeds payment is only devaluing the writers talent. I am not a serious writer so could not demand like other polished writers.

"Getting chicken feeds payment is only devaluing the writer's talent" - that's the
whole point zandi. But Zandi, I have known you here in Mylot for years now (although
the participation number beside my name doesn't show those "years") and I believe you are a good writer. So I think you can demand for a good pay if you want to take writing seriously as a sideline job.

Eh. If you think $2, $3, $4, and such are good amounts of money. Try moving to the United States. I know companies(magazine and other various publishers.) paying as little as $50 per each article published to as high as $300+ per article. However, these usually require a lot better quality of writing and usually involve pretty heavy competition for them.
Plus the nice thing about those low-end articles is you can almost always guarantee you'll get paid for them as there isn't nearly as much competition. The way I like to think of it is if I get $2 per article and write 10 articles in an hour that's $20 an hour.
So if I could do that for 3 hours each day that's $60 a day, $1800 a month. For only about three hours a day. 21 hours a week. That's about the equivalent of a part-time job for almost double what you would make for an average one(less taxes too since you're "self-employed".). The sad truth though is that in most cases there is a good bit of writing work but whether you'll have enough to make such a steady income like that might be a bit unfeasible.
Where do you write at for the $2, $3, and such? I am always interested in new places to write. PM me about it :)

"Eh." That made me laugh. lol! For those writers who are
in countries where the exchange rate of $US/AusD is high
few dollars is a good amount of money.
I hope I can find web magazines as well where I can earn
$50 or more per article, that would be great. I won't
bother to move in US though even if I earn $100 per
article. I really just want to make something out of
the time I spend online writing.
I write articles for friends' blog sites. I write product
reviews as well for Shared Reviews. I write tasks here but
only for Sharonbucks and only articles not the ones that
she's been posting lately.I write for Triond which pays
cents but earns as long as the site stays. I write
product reviews here in AUstralia also.

I'm just surprised that anyone would accept $0.15 for their article when Review Stream's bulk rate is $0.50. I'd understand if it was Helium or Triond because they give revenue to articles based on views but at least you could get more than $0.15 for your article.

That's the good thing about sites like Helium and
Triond- your articles continue to earn as long as
you get page views. I quit from Helium though, but
I am still with Triond. Thanks for responding.

Well of course they will pay 15 cents u get a lot of articles so you'll pay more in the total of people but you'll get ideas and some good articles so that's pretty smart. Shame on you for opening the eyes of the people lol :D i dont do the tasks cause i find them unfair so i get what u say :)

Lol! Some may find it unfair. You are right.
But reading the responses here I quite understand
why some members would take such tasks. Fair enough.

well i don't think 15 cents is an enough reward for a 300 word article but since i was free i wrote just for fun and posted it as i believe in the old saying that "something is better than nothing" because this type of task came on mylot after a long time...

Well, that's a good attitude pankajgarg.
Hope you can get some tasks later that will
pay a bit more than that. Thanks for responding.

Well, I too believe in expressing my thoughts in discussions.
For me, these earnings are a kind of bonus, since by themselves
they are not enough even for my small daily needs.
For daily needs, we have to rely on other earnings and our savings.

You are right when you say that to take that job for that measly amount is just underestimating their talents. But then again, a work is still a work however small the payment is. It is better than nothing, I guess.

I totally agree with you on that. .15 cents is just not enough to do some research for whatever topic and then write on it. I just pass them on by. And I'm the same way I'd rather post comments and make discussions then waste my time on such task as those.

This does seem a remarkably small amount. I know that sites like myLot do not pay large sums: but then I imagine that most of are using this as a forum, for which there is also a modest incentive.

Honestly I did that task... and it give me headaches... they pay my article but I am not so happy about it. So little payment for a lot of thinking... I prefer to interact with my co mylotters. I totally agree with you...
