Do you truly believe the end of the world is in 2012?

I was thinking about this last night while trying to fall asleep. I think about the strangest things sometimes at night.
I've been wondering about the validity of people saying that the world will end on December 21, 2012. If only God knows when the end of the world will be, then what gives us the right to make this prediction?
I know there are many people out there in the world who believe this is true, but step back and think about it for a minute.
Before the turn of the century, a prediction was made that all computers would go haywire when the new millennium hit. You remember that right? The prediction was that computers would cease to work because they didn't understand what the date was, and that they would roll back to 1900 instead of to 2000.
However, the predictions were wrong, and the computers made the transition just fine.
I can't remember where I heard this, but someone told me a while back, probably when the end of the world predictions started, that this was just a scare tactic, that it held no shred of truth to it. The reason behind that was because of all the past predictions made centuries before that highways would be built, computers invented, basically predictions that came true, but were not made by the Mayans, who have been predicting the end of the world for us.
Now, with that information, can you seriously believe the Mayans, who have been wrong in the past, really think they're right about the end of the world?
If this was a prediction made a long time ago, why did this discovery only take place recently? Why is it, that less than 3 years before this is to supposedly take place, do we only find out about it?
Those who believe in God, they know this is all fake. No one can predict the end of the world.
I mean jeez, we can hardly predict hurricane paths, when tornadoes will touch down or where, or even an earthquake, and we have all this modern technology to use. So how can we predict when the world will end?
I don't think we have any right to try to do this.

Its not the end of the world. The most exciting thing that will happen around that time is elections. Other than that, everything should proceed as normal.
I think people believe in end of the world predictions because subconsciously they are bored with life and need something to stimulate and excite them.

Actually, around that time, winter will officially start, so that will be exciting.
Our elections are this month, nothing on the agenda for 2012 so far, and never in December anyways.

Yes that's true.
Even psychics are frauds and can't predict things properly. I've noticed that a lot, and I've been to some, and have heard stories from other people about how their predictions turned out wrong.
I bet you that the store owners up here, if they had ever predicted that they'd get busted for fraud, that they'd never rig their lottery terminals so that they'd be the ones winning the prizes, haha.

Hi kris, I guess we will get a lot more of these discussions as 2012 draws closer, but I don't think that anyone should worry about it. Of course it's the Mayan long calendar that has got it all started but some people really seem to be scared. I don't think the world will end unless someone decides to use nuclear weapons. That could put civilization back a few hundred years, but hopefully that won't happen. There is no doubt but that we are entering a new age and there could be lots of surprises, but the end of the world? I don't think so. Blessings.

I do remember the prediction about the computer back on the year before 2000, what a big chaotic it was to the believers. I was waiting for it to happen day and night lol, honestly.
I must say and admit, I'm not bothered and I do not believe this prediction, but if it's really going to happen, then let it happens. I have so many people I love and many more goals in life, lots of places I wanted to go and so on....so I will be busy about that until 2012 arrived then see what happen after.
What i actually got in my mind right now is, if that 2012 turns out to be a wrong prediction and nothing happen, hmmmm....I wonder how many people will make the same post over and over again on myLot lol :DD I'm also wondering how chaotic the world is gonna be, (well I'm sure not whole of the world) on the day before 21st Dec 2012 :D do you think many people will apply for a day off to be with family just in case they say it may happens? including those drivers, chefs, pilot, even the one working with government, and many more....ehmmm...sorry if I start questioning you lots of questions back? :D this is just too interesting :)

Hehehehehehehehe. I think you must open your eyes wide and observe first the happenings in our world. I'm sure the world will not end in 2012 as Mayan Calendar prophesied. Yes, God only knows when this will happen and we cannot even tell if it will happen or not. For me, this so-called end of the world will happen and maybe we are in the process to its fulfillment. Some event may happen but sometimes it need certain situation and condition to fulfill the event. Just like the World War III, it will happen and it must be happened but it will not happen unless certain conditions be met in order to fulfill this war.

hmmm for me? I think it is only a "coincidence" if you base in the calculations with Nostradamus, the mayans and the techonoly, but well, you know, let us just see what might happen to that date. What's the rush?, i mean, what if it will really happen? Nothing matters right? If it's the end, it's the end, everybody should accept this fact. Hence, all of us will die anyway gyahahaha! Let us just hope for it not to happen on the other hand, i think no one wants to die early. Why? because of course youthful dreams still exists, perseverance, goals, uprising technology, aiming for peaceful plots, unity, Love, Hope and all of it. Those beautiful man-made thoughts are still present, therefore we will still be at the cycle of life. Some people think that It'll happen, that's because they're the ones who has hopeless thoughts in their mind. I mean, think of a good life, will you be able to get that if you die?
I heard this one from a game, the game is called "Final Fantasy: Dissidia" One Villain says that "Powerless beings... fall into the shadows of despair... and be gone" that quote reminds me of the 2012 thingy fact. If that "end of the world" really happens and the Human Race will be swiped away~ then it's the Finale, there will be eternal nothingness.
Of course I won't let it happen. There are still many people like me who wants to live. And yes, I agree with you, we do not have any rights to predict the end of everything :)

I do not believe in that and do not think that it's going to happen. Even if it's going to happen I cannot control anything so why to worry for something not in my control and better enjoy the days I have in this life.

Yeah I have heared that the prediction is created by Mayan thousands of years ago and it is said that their predictions are quite accurate so it caused huge panic among people. But I also see some articles to fefute the rumor saying that a lot of predictions had been broken by the reality, the Pharoah can not bear the doubt of the publicity and come out to clarfy it. So should we trust it any more? Maybe we just need to take it as a story.

hello!!........i don't believe that the 2012 is the real end of the world it's only humans prediction...the reason why i did not believe that the end of the world is the 2012 because if it is true, now a day there is what we called the start to the end, i mean the world is now starting to collapse....because it is impossible that in 2012 the world will just suddenly explode, there must a beginning in everything that must to be happen........thats for me.

yeah...I don't actually believe on this prediction.. Even angels don't know when the world would end,..It's only him (GOD)'...
it's just a prediction so,,,,there's that possibility for it to be true at the same time a false 1...
We have to believe on GOD for it is reasonable to trust on his word not just believing to whatever vision or something made only by intellect Humans who even doesn't honor or even believe that there is a GOD above..;

I don't believe in these types of predictions. Many people have given statements earlier but none of them come true. I believe in live the movement and enjoy live. Care for the planet and go green is the only way we can save the world than those all fake predictions.

The world is far from ending. Remember what the bible said about the second coming of God: it will come like a thief in the night. Which means nobody would ever have a clue when it's due. So I'm leaving it all up to God. If the Big Boss decides it's gonna be tomorrow, then we couldn't do anything about it.

No I really don't believe in 2012. I think it is wrong saying that the world will destroy in 2012. I think it is true that global warming creates many problems for our climates. And also it is responsible for climate changes. But it doesn't mean that world will end in 2012. I think it is only rumors. So I don't believe in this. I think this can take much time. And also it is true that global warming create many problems day by day and also space scientist give us warning for solar storm which will comes in next 100 years on our earth and could destroy our earths.

I don't believe that it's possible for anyone to know when the world is going to end. I mean, seriously? I've lived through Y2K, 6/6/06, and 9/9/09. If I recall correctly, the reasoning behind 2012 was something about the end of the Aztec calendar, right? Maybe they just didn't live long enough to continue it. We can't predict severe weather years in advance, so how can someone possibly be able to predict the end of the world? It's all hysteria, and possibly just something that came up to promote the movie is all.
