Is it just me or does it seem like the more advanced phones get the less practical for calling? I mean SERIOUSLY, my oldest phone from like 10 years ago (one of the first mass produced nokias) has much better reception than my samsung JET, and nokia 5800 and a bunch of other ones. The more complex feature a phone has the less capable it is of actually calling. My Samsung JET has a few probs as the sound comes out week, if you talk with someone who is using speakerphone you won't be able to hear much, which totally sucks.
What do you all think? Just from a 'calling' feature point of view, better older or newer phones?

Well, I happened to have blackberry bold 9700 & I never really felt weird about making a phone call on it. I know what you mean, though. Phones now seem more like they are made with messaging & internet purpose in mind than calling. I never was that much into text messages but I had to get blackberry for my work purpose. I do make & receive a lot of phone calls, work related, & I'm fairly comfortable with blackberry.

In terms of features, Smart Phone could say it has more features that we can use for various purposes. However, we must also see our purpose to buy the mobile phone. If we buy it only to communicate directly (send a message or telephone) may be a mobile phone have been very quite for us. And features that are in the Smart Phone, I think more to use the internet service.
