should the purpose of life is just to be happy ??
Or should it be to live honorably , being useful to the people, to make the difference that is caused by a life well lived by virtues by principles by ethics....
Or we can just give away all these things and earn the smaller snippets and join them to make ourselves happy ??

the purpose of life isn't just to be born and die or not just finding way to feel pleasantness for 1's self...
what i knew is live to serve...not just yourself but other people as well..
life is a cycle and what's happening during this generation was felt also before..
everything starts and last to an end when it's about time..
every human cry, laughs, face problem matters ,,work a lot for money but still ends up with nothing... and doesn't know why they were send or born on earth..
they die knowing less yet they got an idea/./..
for me, base on how I believe in GOD ..the very reason to live is to live each day for CHRIST and die to 1's self for my savior and my GOD's glory...
Yeahh..not die like how most people thinks that killing themselves but to live a life letting JESUS be the 1 to drive into my will...
and yes! there I and my co-believers knew what is real happiness..that's when we find ourselves heartily serving one another...serving also other and leading them to the heart of GOD...

sam8pro, hi. What do you think happiness is? Happiness is the embodiment of those things you mention - living honorably, being useful, virtues and ethics. If you have these in your life, then you will be happy. When I speak of happiness, I'm talking about long-term happiness, not the 'smaller snippets' of happiness which are pleasant surprises, laughing with friends, listening to music etc. Those kinds of happiness are 'flashes in the pan' and require no effort to gain. Long-term happiness requires effort - set goals to reach, be honest, be useful, work out and live by your virtues and ethics. And of course, happiness is the purpose of life - but very elusive. Long-term happiness is like a reward for living purposively (if you like). A funny thing: Often people who have found long-term happiness don't look particularly happy. Don't confuse a happy, smiling face is always meaning that person is happy, in a long-term sense.
