I use Open Office on my desktop and MS Office on this one. I barely use it, only to type invoices once in a while or when doing some forms or anything for school. For these I always have MS Word handy, the others I barely use, the PowerPoint for presentations I guess..

If I am working in the office, then at least I will use Microsoft Office once everyday. It is either Excel or Word. I don't use the latest version because I think Microsoft 2003 is already good to use:) I don't want to spend money to upgrade it.
I love China

but with the rise of later versions i think you will be facing problems because the difference in file formats.
eg word 2003 is .doc
and word 2007 or 2010 is .docx
similarly an additional x at the end of each file format.
how will you tackle that?

well it would be beneficial.
so it seems that microsoft played a clever trick to force users to upgrade.

Hi, pankaj. I have been using only MS-office since I began using computer, almost 20 years. Initially office97, I think. Then I switched to Office 2000, and I am so accustomed with it for word, excel that I am hesitant to upgrade to newer versions. Word Processor is useful to access docx documents. But Office 2003 and 2007 can handle them or some converters on the net can be useful. I found Spreadsheet has some limitations in comparison with excel. I use powerpoint occasionally. I do not use Access and outlook much anyway. So MS-office is the right choice for me.

somewhere we have to make a beginning which becomes primitive with the rapid growth in IT. Yes. The OS in those days was windows-95. That itself was an upgrade from plain 'windows'. It lasted quite a while before other versions like ME appeared on the scene which gave way to XP which again ruled for quite a long time. Then you had Vista which seems to be giving way to 2007. So when can you say an OS is primitive? In my opinion we have to choose the software that most suits our needs, abilities and also not nearing obsolescence. Thanks for your comment.

I use it all the time for both my work and personal life. I open Outlook as soon as I login in Windows, and left it watching over my mail accounts and it does a good job at that.
Word from time to time, either to read something or to compose documents mainly for work. And Excel as an excelent analisis tool, it comes handy to show some info to clients when the don't understand anything else.
About Powerpoint, I found no use for it, save for viewing screens that someone sends me. As I use SQL Server all the time, Access as become obsolete now.
I'm still using version 2003 and after seeing many screenshots, I have no intention at all of "upgrading" to 2007, first to avoid that ugly new interface that gets in my way, and since I know no significant feature that it has. Just a loss-loss situation.

I am using it just about every day, at my work place and also at home, over the years. Excel is a very useful program for project evaluation work, without it the work can take many hours. It is an excellent program for making decisions for developing new projects.

absolutely right, there is no other software as excel and the use of macros make it even more powerful...

Almost everyday.. I have MS office 2010 starter version... it has very limited options for me... I like to use excel a lot... Instead of a calculator I use excel for cancellations.. I wanted to use macros for some work but with this version I don't have macros so I am thinking of upgrading MS office to a better one..

I use ms-office all the time, but I also use open office. Tomorrow I'm going to upgrade to msoffice2010, but for now, I'm content with open office. The main thing I use it for is school work, which, besides word processing, includes spreadsheets and powerpoint presentations. I don't use their mail client, outlook. I prefer to go to the website and check my email.
