President Benigno Aquino III, with the help of Dep-Ed, proposed a program to the nation where two more years will be added to our country's basic 10-year education scheme to enhance the quality of graduates when they enter their college years.
The Dep-Ed's "Kinder plus Twelve Years Ago," or K+12 Program for short, said that the program will help prepare a high school student to take the next step in college. Furthermore, the Philippines's Education System will be at par with international standards. Thus, our graduates will be recognized abroad for their high educational standards in the long run.
Angry parents resisted the plan. Parents are already burdened with providing their children with their educational needs in a span of ten years–six years in elementary and four years in high school. To them, implementing the K+12 program will be another reason for them NOT to send their kids to school anymore.

Regarding this issue, I'm not too sure where to side with.
I mean, I do understand how they want our educational standards at par internationally, but at the same time, it's not realistic enough considering the financial and economical stability of the masses.
We already have enough out of school youths due to poverty.
I find this adding fuel to that fire..

As for me, i think adding 2yrs in secondary education is not the solution to provide better education for our children. our schools should provide competent new teachers and parents should assist their children in their studies and help their child to like reading to gain more knowledge.as for the current teachers they should be provided with trainings and seminars to make them more competent.

@Hunter214... According to DepEd, the Philippines ranked only 34/38 countries at the TIMISS or Trends in International Mathematics and Science Studies for HS II Math, 43/46 in HS II Science, and 23/25 on both subjects... This is just humiliating... One reason why I, personally, agree with P-Noy and DepEd for this two year addition to the current curriculum... However, our country lacks facilities that is appropriate for a student's effective learning... Teaching Power is just as bad as well... One reason why I agree that DepEd to stop for a moment, and be a hundred percent sure that they are able to fill up the problems mentioned... Peace... More power...

I would say yes because it is for us students to learn more of this enigmatic world so that we may get better jobs in the future...

They should implement this k-12 thing because if not now, when? At least the parents have more time to prepare for the college tuitions, you know. I think those angry parents are just weirded out by the idea because it is something new just like jejemon if you are new to it you might get pissed off by their weird habit of texting, right? I think it's exactly the same thing, people have to deal with them and in time they will accept it and it will be okay. That is my selfish opinion.
