being burn out

I've been on the same company within 5 years now. Previously, I cannot stay in one company for more than 2 years and yet this one I managed to stay longer than I expected. I cannot deny the fact that the company is paying me well and they are acknowledging every effort I put in on whatever tasks they've given me. But there will come a point in our lives that we have this feeling of being burn out of what we are doing especially if we are doing it for so long. Yeah, human does not have satisfaction and I am like that right now. I want new surroundings, new scope of work, new set of people to deal with, etc, etc. But since I have a family now, I cannot just give in to what I want as I need the financial security first and foremost. Hopefully this feeling will go off eventually so I can go back to my old self and perform what is expected of me.
Do you feel the same way too?

All the time! When I was with my previous employer, I usually feel that feeling for 3 years. So I quit my job and try my luck into business.. well it didn't go well. So now I miss the feeling of having a regular job. To have a job is cool and a blessing. Don't worry, everything will be shake off once you receive your bonus.. Christmas is fast approaching you know...:)

I've never been with a company longer than two years. Though I cannot understand what you might be going through based on my own experience, I know how burnout works (That's why I can't stay with a company that long). It is hard to just leave the company, seeing that you have a family who needs your support, and the current state of the economy. But, you can't go on feeling that - it will damage you a lot. Try taking a break for a while (maybe a week or two, or longer if you have those benefits). Do some activities with your family other than work. At the end of your hiatus, you will know when you go back to work whether you could stay or not. If you find your self in the same situation as before your vacation, then maybe it's time to seek another job.

I always long for a breather, a much deserve vacation but I am afraid I cannot take it at this time. You see, I do not have a back-up on my job that is why it is very difficult for me to have a long break. 1 or 2 days is okay but not longer than that. Also, if I managed to get one, I will still spend it at home with my 2 kids and I tell you having 2 kids around is more tiring than working 9hrs in the office everyday.

I have been with my current company for a little over 3 years and I just finally got a new and different position with them. It's very mundane, easy work, and in all honesty, I was probably just too scared and too comfortable in doing what I was doing to find a new job and go through the whole "being new" thing all over again. Truth is, though, that you could try to move up in your company or switch positions (if it doesn't mean a cut in pay, that is). Finally, work is more interesting for me because I haven't been doing the same old thing for 2+ years now, I'm finally getting to experience something a little different and more advanced than what I've been doing before, and I still don't LIKE the companY I work for, but at least it's a little less tedious and the pay is better. Maybe look for advancement opportunities in your company, perhaps?
