I am a smoker. I would like to quit but just can't seem to kick the habit.
What are some of the ways to quit smoking. I have tried cold turkey, patches, gum, even hypnosis. Nothing seems to work for me.
If you found yourself in this same situation, what worked for you?

I too am a smoker and wished I wasn't if you give you some suggestions it would be hypocritical of me as I can't stop either. I did buy the e-cigs and have to tell you they help but they will not get you stop either.
The stress and my boyfriend buying them for me just makes me keep smoking.

Those e-cigs are spendy little critters...I tried those for a while. Somehow although they did seem to stem the crave for a while, ..they kinda freaked me out.
I mean, we spend our lives online, check our e-mail, have e-romance, spend our dollars e-shopping which is e-commerce, we try to make money with an e-business, we can take classes by e-learning....I could keep going he he he
Somehow an e-cig is just tooo much "e" for me. LOL

Good you stop smoking, it only costs money and is not good for your health (this costs again money when you need medicins for your longs for example).
I am not a smoker myself and I dont know what it is to try to stop smoking, but I know a friend who just started a relationship with a girl who did not smoke. The girl said him each time he should stop smoking and finally he did really stopped it!

Smoking is a very addictive habit. Once you start, it can be difficult to stop. I was never a smoker, but I have several family members who have fallen to this addiction. Kicking this habit is about your own willpower. you have to want it more than anything else. Your health and life will be so much better for ending the smoking habit. A good decision would be to consult a physician for the best way to stop smoking.

The most effective way to quit smoking is substituting smoking with other activities that will include alternate behavior. Most people smoke to reduce stress and relax and it is impt. to substitute this w/ meditation, exercises or massages. Find also an activity that you are passionate about to kill loneliness and boredom. :)

Hi, sounds good that you want to stop smoking. My husband also smokes too much and he tried to stop that for that he brought some medicinal nicotine or I dont know some anti for the ciggerate but he was unable to do that as for starting everything you need very strong will power ...you can choose any medicine but they wont work until you make yourself strong enough to stop.

I feel for you, Miner, I'm trying to quit as well. I had stopped 20 years ago for nine years, but like a fool started again, and haven't stopped since. I honestly believe it is the willpower needed, very strong willpower to put down the butts once and for all. I know how hard it is. There's a book by Allan Carr on the internet called Allan Carr's Easy Way to quit smoking. There's a few sites that have it for free download online. It's also on YouTube in several parts (if youtube doesn't decide to delete it). It mostly is full of common sense, showing you how ridiculous smoking really is, things like that. Now if I could only commit myself to reading through the entire book, it might help, lol. In all seriousness however, I wish you luck in quitting. :-)

Good to hear you wanted to quit smoking.. I do smoke only if i wanted to.. Its a kind of sickness which needs to be medicated.. It is a habit which you cound not resist especially when you're around the people who used to smoke too.. And seems you already tried lot of things but still you cannot resist it.. Try to engage yourself to other things which makes you busy. Avoid places that leads you a temptation to smoke.. Most important thing is discipline..

i have never smoked but one of my friends quite cold turkey he said the oly way he was able to was to get rid of everything and drink water when ever he wanted to smoke and lots of water. and some tea to help him sleep at night. the water will help flush everything out of your system he drank like 2 gallons of water a day. hope this helps and also water makes your body clean itself completely so the withdrawal should last a few days
