Old friends far away...forced to make new friends or remain lonely

I'm currently a 5th year at a University, thus most of my friends graduated last year. I've been trying to meet people in clubs, class, the pub, neighbors in my apartment, and anyone possible. Meeting people online is nice and dandy but it's hard because you can't touch them. Physical contact is very important to me. I can't touch my online friends and my other friends who are hundreds of miles away. I just need to put myself out there say hi and see if they reciprocate. Then it's all on if you make friends with a nice person or a not-very nice person. Anyone had to make new friends before? A person can't be shy at all, otherwise shy people tend to have a harder time of making new friends. FRIENDSSS!!!
