Are You Paying Attention NOW?!

Whenever I have flown on an aircraft I try to take notice of the Flight Attendants and what they say in case of an emergency. Obviously, they can't say we're all gonna die but there have been some amazing escapes from crashes recently, so I guess they know what they are talking about. However, I have never seen FA's have fun with the demo and I guess a lot of the guys out there will love the following video on YouTube. Apologies if you've seen the vid already. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lqh8e2KYIrU

I think the procedures are laid down worldwide so every airline is the same, so it makes a nice change FA's actually dancing in time to what they are demonstrating. Makes a change!

Thanks for the video! Well, never watch about it before, but it certainly gives a new twist of how the procedure should be given. PS: I do pay attention to the safety information in every flight I have flown.

My husband listens and watches intently as he's afraid of flying whereas I'm not..well, not until we hit severe turbulence anyway!

Too bad the person taping the demo didn't rest their hand on the back of the seat to steady the shot...

That was great Janey. It certainly seemed to put the passengers' minds at ease. I wouldnt' mind have a show like that next time I fly instead of the the serious stuff that seems to worry the life out of most of the passengers. _Derek

I'm glad you liked it. There have been a few miraculous escapes from planes this year. I looked at one crash on telly and thought "how on earth were there survivors from that?" as it was in 3 bits on the runway..or something. Also, there was one instance where everyone on board got evacuated safely off an Air France one time as the passengers took notice of what the Flight Attendants were saying. Apparently, this didn't happen on another Air France a few years earlier because it was a case of "every man for himself" due to panic setting in. It really does make a difference to the passengers if the Flight Attendants are cool, calm and collected, just like in the video. They're certainly happy in their work Derek!

Well that makes a big difference from the boring old routine that is extremely repetitive. Most people would take in the information better I think, if it presented in an entertaining way like this. That is great, thanks for sharing it Jane. I got an email the other day with some hilarious photos of a plane. This company is another that is doing something different and amusing to entertain their customers. If you PM me your email address, then I will forward it to you.

I think it was a fun video, and just about anything to make things a little more interesting is good, especially when people tend not to pay attention, as long as it still gets the right message across. Unfortunately, there are people that seem to be "allergic" to fun, and I am sure that they would complain about this sort of demonstration and it would quickly stop.

LOL! Maybe they should get more flattering and "fashion forward" life vests just in case - that way just about everybody could look good as they are floating along! I think that is why all the flight attendants have to be fairly attractive, because the demonstration makes them look so dorky that they have to compensate for it by making the flight attendants more attractive than the vests and masks are dorky.

I agree with you. I bet Virgin Atlantic wish they'd thought of this first! I hope I never have to put on one of those hideous yellow vets thingys..it wouldn't look as good on me, that's for sure!
