If you are a good writer, you can earn money for writing articles for people with websites.
Many website owners know that they need to keep their websites current and up to date, but don't have to constantly create new content for them. Because of that, they hire people who can write on their behalf.
Ways:
-post your profile in freelancing sites like odesk.com. Describe your interest and your level of expertise (Search more freelancing sites on google.)
-look for jobs on the same freelancing sites and apply for them.
-google writer opening.
-ask the owner of the websites that you already like if they are looking for writers.
How much will you earn?
-Content writing jobs pay anywhere from $1 to 100+ based on the length of the article and your expertise. If you're already an expert on the topic you're writing about, you can often charge a premium.
-Even you are new to writing, you can make upward $.50 for each 100 words on an article.
I hope this helped you out.

If I am a good writer will I make more money writing for other people or should I just use my writing skill for my own blog/website? Which do you think is more profitable?

If you write for other people, you make a contract job with them and you are paid hourly (that's my experience with odesk). If you write on your blog you cannot be paid per hour but per view. I also have a blog which I write everything about making money and I update it every month.

I agree with sup3rdud3. If you need instant money that writing for other people would be a great idea, but if you would like passive income that can last for years then blogging is good.
One thing though, you can only earn big with blogging if your website has a high page rank- which is hard to achieve and maintain.
What's best I think is to write for established websites that do pay per page views.

Yes, i know that but having a contract is good, you can able to tell the person you are working for to increase your wage and perhaps you can both work on your own blog and the site you are working for. When starting to have a good reputation on websites, it is better to star with writing, if the company learned that you know many computer languages or can built a site of a scratch. You will no longer be paid for $3-$20 but $50-$100 for your time.

I write for a lot of the article writing sites and I'm pleased with the results so far.
I'm not too keen on the freelance sites. It might be that I was just unfortunate but I had two people who both altered the price they were willing to pay after they had accepted my bid and I had accepted their offer of employment.
I don't expect to earn a fortune from freelance sites but I can reasonably expect not to have to work at a loss. One expected 50 10000 word articles at 50 cents each. It would cost more than that to run my computer.
But I found your tips useful and I'll follow them through.

When I started at odesk I was paid for $3 per 250 per word and now my new job there is to post their articles on their websites, I don't have to write anymore. I am now also hired to help on their website moderation. Been paid $5 per hour for posting their articles.

Writing for other people is a good source of income if one stays at home and does have the luxury of time. However, I don't think this will apply to me at the moment because I have a job and am just doing this part-time.
What I am doing right now is writing articles and just submit them on websites that pay per view.
Anyways, I really appreciate your insight and I hope I can apply this in the near future.

I am now starting with this job and it was a great catch. I am a student and I use my spare time in making money online.

Great tips! Even though I am not currently looking for more writing gigs myself, I often see questions about these things here on MyLot, so I am sure these tips will be really useful for a lot of people. Thanks for sharing!

All I wanted is to have things like this. I have been searching for making money online which we should not pay anything when starting on a business on a job. I also want to help other people on making their career online. I am a student, I wanted to earn for my studies also.

You don't have to thank me. I really want to help other people, and besides article writers really should know about this.
