Can we really improve our eyesight?

I have read some articles that we can indeed improve our eyesight via eye exercise etc. However, i have not been exercising my eyes for a long time now.... Wonder it really helps reduce your short-sightedness etc? If i can remember clearly, the way to exercise the eyes is to focus an object near the eyes, then take it far away and focus on it, then move the object round the eyes etc. Also, we should often look at the greens outside, for example looking at trees movements, scenery etc. There is also one article i read that say putting some pure wild honey into the eyes can help too. Anyway, i don't dare to test this out. I have been looking at the monitors for hours each day and rarely relax the eyes. Eyesight are getting poorer by the day. Some say we need to move our view out of the screen for every 15 minutes or so focusing on it. Did any one of you really improved your eyesight with any methods? Do share with us so that we'll have better eyesight. Thanks.

I'm not sure if such exercises can really help eye vision. Personally I wear glasses because I was born with an astigmatism. My astigmatism causes most of my bad eyesight and straining to see objects farther away, and of course wearing glasses makes your vision worse also. I have heard relaxing the eyes can help eyesight but not straining to see objects farther away could help. Honestly I don't think eye exercises help. I would rather just stick to wearing glasses and contacts. I actually heard on the news they invented Permanent contacts. I heard they help alot with the vision. I was thinking on looking a bit into to those. I did do some research awhile back of eye exercises, but nothing to convincing to actually make me do something as that. If you want you could go more into research with the eyes and their sight and find different ways to improve it, exercises and other things. You never know what you might find.

I do agree that exercising the eyes seem to be the most difficult ways to see result. However, some articles are quite convincing. They say our eyes muscle is used to focusing to certain object at the same distance and hence our eyes muscle become less flexible from time to time. If we keep exercising the eyes, our eye muscles won't become hard and would be more elastic and strong for it to stretch to see objects of different distance. Anyway, seldom we see people who can actually exercise their eyes in regular basis.

Yes, I think you got it right. I have heard about eye exercises. I do hope this will take away the tiredness from our eyes. Too much on the computer will lead to dry eyes. so, we need to refresh them often with eye-drops.

Too much time on computer really makes us tired, especially our eyes. Our body needs exercise and so do our eyes. Anyway, many people has ignored the fact that we need to exercise our eyes. Maybe school should educate our children to have regular eye exercise besides the physical exercise that has become part of the curriculum in school.

There are exercises that can improve your eyesight but i believe this is just to some point. You still have to eat nutritious foods to improve it more. Those exercises are meant to diminish the habit of squeezing our eyes which results to sight improvement.

Yes. Food and exercise do need to be done in order to improve the eyesight. Anyway, not many of us can help not staring at the pc all the time. Some do suggest to install something like screensaver which will pop up ever 15 or 20 minutes, as a reminder that we need to move our eyes somewhere else :D

If you really want to improve your eyesight then wear eyeglasses or contact lenses with your correct eye prescription. Take vitamins that gives nutrient to the eyes like Vitamin A or Lutein. Regularly go to an ophthalmologist to ensure that your eyes has no problems. And if you have thick eyeglasses because of high prescription and also contact lenses irritates your eyes the try using high index lenses or consult your doctor if you are a good candidate for LASIK.

I thought wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses will not improve eyesight instead can only maintain the eyesight we have now? I do seen some articles that we need to work together with our optometrist who will usually prescribe eyeglasses with slightly less power than it supposed to in order to less our eyes exercise more towards the power prescribed. Then we need to go and have our eyes checked more regularly so that we can know how much our eyes improved or didn't improve at all.

Yes. I do think drinking carrot juice daily and eyes exercise might actually help. Maybe we should try this as it is not difficult at all.

You can't improve your eye sight through exercise. Exercise will help strengthen the muscles around your eyes, sure, but those only control the movement of your eye. The lens in your eye is what controls your vision. There is no exercise that can improve the lens of your eye. It can only be done by wearing a corrective lens, or surgically fixing the lens of your eye.

I think there is also some point to what you are saying. If our lens are actually thickened, how would exercising help? Anyway, maybe some of us still have good lens, only weak muscles. Therefore exercise might help in that case, but certainly not all cases. Thanks :D
