Dont you notice music these days sounds if not the same they are all familiar? Dont you agree? The beat at times the lyrics whats the difference is the artists and its background, isnt it?

You're right. I think it's because of the scale they use. The most commonly used scale is the pentatonic scale. This is used by bands like blink 182, story of the year, goo goo dolls, etc. Bands that use unconventional scales seems less noticeable like incubus.
