I know this is not a pleasant topic but it is kind of my pet peeve. There is nothing worse than being at a park, going for a walk, or enjoying your own front lawn and stepping in a big pile of dog poo!Yuk! If they are pooing in their own yard, and it is not shared with tenants then thats their Ps & Qs but if it is a public place then I say, "clean your pets poo, it is your responsibility as a pet owner". We have a law where I live that states you must scoop your pet's poop, but it is seldom enforced. I often see those who own dogs who live around me take their dogs outside and let them poop everywhere including on the lawns of neighbors and never scoop it up. Yes it is unpleasant to scoop it up, but its your dog why should someone else have to clean it. Do you have a problem where you live with pet owners not scooping their own poop? Are there laws where you live, and are they enforced? What are your thoughts on this?

I get mad when I see poo in my front yard, after all, I keep my dogs in the back yard and if I want it scooped, I do it (not often mind you) I don't let my dogs out, heck, our two have never learned the leash, coming as they did as adults. The only time they go out on a leash is to the vet...

Yes, it irritates me, especially as I don't have dogs at all. I don't mind so much that their dogs will go in my front yard but if they do their owner's should scoop it.

In my country there is a law which say dog owners must scoop their dog's poop, but I think too few people respect it. I'm sick of dog poop on the sidewalks, not that I may step on it, but people who don't own dogs and see me walking my dog may think that I am the one who is guilty. I always clean after my dog. I think is a form of respect for the others. Nobody should be forced to step in dog poop on the sidewalks. I have a neighbour that owns a Great Dane and live a few blocks away. She never cleans after her dog. Can you imagine the surrounding sidewalks full of huge piles of a giant dog's poop? I choosed not to walk on that street again, as I'd have to walk between so much dog poop.

No, they don't respect the poop and scoop law here either. Yes, I know the feeling I have neighbors that have german shepards, big poop everywhere. On the sidewalk is bad but on the grass is worse as you may not notice it and if you step in it on the grass it is much like stepping on ice.

We live in the country and so this is not a problem, there is so much poop around here that it is up to the walker to avoid it. But I feel that all owners should be responsible for their animals in a situation that could inconvience other people and stepping in dog poop is a big inconvience. Stinky too

Yes, in the country its pretty much everywhere but then again it has its purpose in the country and country folk seem to have a knack for knowing where to step and where not to step. Yes, it is stinky, too, thats for sure. Can be dangerous too if the dog is big enough and the individual does see it till they are on their way down,

In my neighborhood we have many pet owners and many walk them at all hours of the day. I have to admit they are very good about scooping as they walk around with pooper scooper.

That is good hardworkinggurl, I'm glad that your neighbors are so considerate. If you step in a big enough mess you could slip and really get hurt and there is a senior's complex right up the street, you would at least think that they would have some consideration for our elders who like to walk in the neighborhood.

I find it rather rude, however they do it here as well. They will walk their dogs right down the city sidewalks and let them do their business, are too lazy to scoop it up, or use a doggie bag. This is a responsibility they took on becoming a dog owner. Do cat owners not clean their litter boxes? Do parents not change their babies diapers? If they are going to own dogs they should take on all the responsibilities dogs require including scooping the poop. If they don't want to do such things they have no business owning a dog.

Well said Cookiebear. I have a cat but she is an indoor cat so I scoop here poop from her litter box but I don't go dump it on my neighbor's lawn. Can you imagine what they would do if I did. That would be poop of a different color!

If it happens in my yard, I don't worry about it :). However, if we take the dogs to a park or lake, I make my husband scoop the poop! :D.

Yep, in your own yard no one else has to deal with it. Wish more here would scoop their poop!
