What do you feel is the main reason for India still being a developing nation?

For some reason, I think it is because of the way people treat each other, like the caste system. I think that still weighs heavily on many people, and is a cultural restriction in a way. Im not sure.

There could be thousand reasons but most important is 'CORRUPTION'. It is not that corruption is not prevailing in other Countries. Unfortunately, corruption in our Country has taken deep roots. If only all departments of Governement start taking stern actions against persons who are breaking any rule, regardless of their position in the society, it could be contained. However, most important is perception of people. They have to change their attitude. They should not only stop giving bribes for getting their work done, they should also expose such people openly. Time has come for the youths of our Nation to understand this serious problem.

India have large population, much of resources and i dont see any reason why india cound not develop fast these days. For example They adapting IT technologies faster than any other country in the world right now :)

they main reason is government still find difficult to develop the infrastructure which is most critical thing to do in india , and every country is developed by infrastructure and technology , india is way behind in infrastructure and scope in india for developing is very difficult process , if we make the literacy rate high and use more technology uses then trusting this IT field. india will progress in 5 years

Educated and skilled people moving away to other countries.

Well large population ...lack of education ...corruption at almost level, the separatist elements in every section of our society .. Lack of government initiatives in reaching out to development of rural areas ... did i miss something ?

I think that India is developing well at the moment and making itself a better country. I think that the government should find ways to help the poor people in India. I think that all corruption should be ended. The population of India is huge. I would like to see baby girls being thought of as just as lovely as baby boys. Look at the GNP of India now and what is was in the past. I think that is might become a developed nation 20 years from now. Good luck to India.

I think that it is mixture of many reasons which is responsible for keeping India 'a developing nation'. Perhaps the biggest one is our too much orthodox culture. Indian people need to come out of old rigid norms and systems. I do say that all new things should be accepted withou any considerations. But the Indian people should become open minded and try the new things with great caution. There are many things which are really very useful in the development of the nation. Simple example is that India has started using computers in different fields very very late. Perhaps the biggest reason is that our politicians are too much selfish. They are not much concerned about the progress of our nation rather than sticking with or gaining the powers and misusing them. The whole system has been corrupted by the politicians and many a times it gives a feeling that they themselves do not want that the society should do good progress because if society develops then their malafied intentions would be exposed and they would no more be accepted by the people as their leaders.

Developed nation comes when every citizen in the country is not struggling for his daily living process, until it's developing country. Poverty is the main reason which tell about a country whether it's developed or developing. U may have wonderful IT companies in the city, but u should see the poor farmers who are struggling for daily living wages in villages. We cannot always blame the politicians for this, the corruption charges are very high in the country, do u know the reason? Suppose if u don't stop at the Red signal in the road, u are supposed to pay a Fine of heavy amount, but what do we prefer? We just pay a small amount as bribe to the cop and escape from fine...This is corruption.. The basic thing is the problem with the Citizens....Why don't we give the entire Penalty amount? We are ready to bribe!! So there occurs corruption and we blame the cops for doing this.. Developed nations have beautiful roads we say this, but what we do? The Government have laid enough roads and it looks nice, but i always see Citizens Spitting in the road , they throw dust and dust items on the road and make it to look dirt, city corporation even accept it by cleaning the road twice a day, but we do pollute it... What our former President Mr.Kalam says , we have to make our country good, we have to take steps, we cannot blame the Government always.. U pay Fine when u over speed when u cross the Red signal in the road.. The penalty is Rs.550 for Signal jumping, are u ready to give that much amount? the answer is NO....No cop is going to reject if u pay the penalty, he just accept it and give u Receipt for the Fine collected. But what do we prefer? We give him Rs.100 or 50 as compensation or complimentary and escape from it and we do the basic corruption..

India is country with a massive scope of development as she has a large number of technically skilled & scinetifically educated people. But yet it is a developing country. There are a lot of reasons behind it. A few of them are population explosion, corruption at every sphere of life, illiteracy, provincialism, communal disharmony,separatist movements at different parts which cannot be curbed due to lack in political & administrative firmness,red tapeism, lack of firm decision at the highest level with consequent chanellization to the lower levels also, and above all lack of patriotism to think of India as a whole.

Well India is vast country which is not easy to rule and every corner of the country cannot be developed by the government and if the government invest in some good project more than half of the money is eaten by the politician and the rest is eaten by the person who has got the responsibility to finish this job and the development rate is really slow and the poverty line is really high there is no proper education for the children but the government has taken some steps to improve the education facilities I hope they are success full..

well,above all,the population problem should be an extremely important point to slow down their development speed and the misconception of patriarchal contribute much to their female deprived of edu.so we could imagine that more than 10 kids scramble one chance to have their education
