Halloween is just a few weeks left and many people already make planning and preparation for the day. But is it appropriate for a Christians to celebrate Halloween? Potray in a costume like a evil being and ghost, and some even become Satans, is it against the teaching of Christian? Indirectly by potray ourself as evil being, ghost and satans we have defy GOD who made us as his own image. Why can't we make a festival where we celebrate GOD image and go from door to door for candy? That is how the devil have mess up with our mind. Making a festival for human to celebrate their existence. So in your opinion, does celebrating Halloween is contradict to Christian teaching?

A lot of holiday meanings are dumbed down by commercialism till they have lost all meaning anyway. What does the Easter bunny have to do with Christ's resurrection anyway? If you were a real satanist you would be offended by Halloween - a community celebrating together giving candy laughing enjoying a thrill all of these things would offend a true satanist. That being said - would Christ preach against Halloween - probably. Anything that distracts from His mission is to be preached against. Maybe there is a creative way to have fun this halloween and preach the word at the same time - HMM

Halloween is not a satanist holiday, it is Pagan. The two are not the same. It is the sabat Samhain and marks the end of summer.

Connie you have a point there. Afarrell, you are right that is a pagan festival. But is it why Jesus come down to earth, to demolished the pagan practice and introduce a greater way of GOD. Halloween does make people have doubt. Should we or should we not celebrate it. Maybe there is deep inside the Bible will tell this. I will get to this topic again once I can find it inside the Bible.

first of all, most costumes that I see people wearing are not evil things. I see people dressed as Batman, cats, doctors, cartoon characters, etc. Only some people wear costumes that depict ghosts -- which are not evil anyway -- and a very small minority dress up as the devil. If you don't want addresses something "evil" then you could always wear different costume. Second of all, how we isn't really about evil, it's about having fun, getting candy, and partying. I don't see the harm in Halloween.

in the beginning, there was no batman and cartoon characters. It was only introduce during modern age. There is a lot of non-evil festival but Christian still not practising it because it have nothing to do with christians teaching or events. Jesus celebrates all the jews holiday and event, but christians not celebrating it. That should have said something.

I guess it depends on how seriously you take your christian religion for instance... a hardcore conservative christian family may look at Halloween as being a night of evil or satanic worshipping amongst non believers or a curse upon all of gods children turned demons

I guess it also depend on how you celebrate it. It will be evil if you make it evil but not if you didn't make it evil. Just up to how we celebrate it in my opinion.

I think having such costumes during Halloween is just for fun. So I think it's alright to celebrate it. After all it's not about celebrating evil. It's about remembering our beloved relatives who's not with us anymore. And I think we already have a festival where in we celebrate God. It's "Christmas". Not only we ask for candies during that season. We also ask for love and affection. Love is in the air during Christmas. Happy mylotting to you.

Halloween is not to remeber our relatives who are not with us anymore. The day that was dedicated for them is "All Souls DAy' which take place on 2nd November. It can be fun to having such costumes but there must be a fine line being drawn for what is allow for Christian and what is not. Sometimes it is funny when Christian ashamed of wearing image of Christ but proud to potray themself with image of evil. Just a food for taught though.

According to Halloween's origin, you would be correct in saying that it is contrary to Christian beliefs. Halloween was created in order to ward off the evil spirits that would come against families, crops, and herds...the druids perfected this night with blood sacrifices and etc. Today, cults and covens use the 'fear' in Halloween to inflict damage on the community... However, from an evangelical perspective, Halloween is awesome! As a Christian, I go door to door telling folks about Jesus. But there's one day outta the year, where they come to me!! I can spend the rest of the evening into the night, giving out candy, and telling parents and their children about Christ! One year, I played the audio cd 'Rescued' (By John Bevere) out of my garage...I just kept repeating the hell and judgment scene over and over...I set it up in my garage in the dark with lights to 'spook' people out and bring the curious to my doorstep. As they got candy from me, I explained what they were listening to...great witness and awesome opportunity to tell folks about Christ! Halloween in a sense isn't so bad afterall!!

Maybe Halloween can be made more Christian base. Who know but how you do it is totally spot on. A refreshing way of Halloween. At Sarawak, my tribe known as Dayak have been celebrating Gawai Dayak before we know Christians. It was a celebration of harvest and during that time when all Dayaks are pagan, they worship the spirit and make sacrifice to them. But now when most of Dayak are Christias, we celebrate the festival by go to church and pray for the blessing of our field so we can get better harvest next year. Instead of sacrifice, we give offering in term of the best crop to the church for sales to generate funds for the church.

It is not bad to remember our beloved ones who had passed away and visit them in cemeteries during all souls day, what is not good is to participate in halloween parties or even contests for scariest costume. These are pagan practices and are really against Christian teaching. The occasion is really intended for the beloved ones and not to imitate evil creatures. Believers do not belong to those worldly practices.

you have a good point there. Halloween is not a day to remeber our beloved one that was pass away. It was a misconception. And saying it is a celebration of all saints day eve also another misconception. It just to make people confusing.

I think the majority of Halloween is harmless. There's nothing wrong with kids dressing up as doctors, princesses, cartoon characters, playing pretend and getting candy. Trick or Treating can be dangerous at times, but that's why parents should make sure to dress up, join in the fun, and supervise their children. The aspects of Halloween that most Christians are uncomfortable with is the element of evil and fear. I think it's a very small part of Halloween these days and if parents feel that something is too spiritually dangerous for their child, then forbidding it should be up to their discretion. But I don't think these elements make Halloween an evil holiday that Christians should have no part in. True, Halloween has a lot of very occultic and spiritually muddy roots... but so do a lot of modern-day Christmas traditions. Does that mean we should stop celebrating both? In the end, I believe that God is stronger than Satan and more powerful than evil. He's not threatened by a four year old dressed up in red and carrying a foam pitchfork.

I think so if yo look at the history behind the festival. But a lot of local churches will host activities for you to take your kids to which promote Christianity and God and they have games and tell stories. I was in a church once that did dress up as your favorite bible character and then the adults who dressed up had to tell the story of their character and act it out as wildly as they could. it was awesome, although at the time I was ten and a lot of stuff was awesome .

I don't think we should celebrate Halloween, I read about it somewhere and its really is against what we believe in(Christianity), how can we have a festival in satan name and celebrate it too. Its hurting christian beliefs. I personally think we should not celebrate anything to do with evil or satan. Allowing children to celabrate it is also wrong, bible has never mentioned about celebrating any festival but yes when you are happy you should celebrate it. We celebrate christmas for his birth. but we shouldnt celebrate Halloween.
