There are a lot of things that i think i cannot live without anymore in my life, but i do not consider myself as addicted. For example, i love computer/video games/internet, but i always organize myself to not let this "replace" more important things during the day such as study and family.
But i have a friend that was so addicted to computer that he repeated the year at school 3 times for missing classes or not studying at all because he could not stop playing it. He also stopped going out with my friends and I, because he "HAD" to go home to play computer games... His mother didnt know what to do anymore and neither us.
I have seen people quitting their families because of alcohol and drugs, and i wonder how people allow themselves to get to this point, do they truly enjoy life like this?
What about you guys? Have something like this ever happened to u or somebody u know or care about? :(

Hi! Each one of us do things because we had our own reasons. How we react, how we behave and how we think are affected by the environment that surrounds us. In my own point of view, this what we called "addicts" to different things or in such thing has a problem/s in his family or may be in his own personality.I don't said that they have a mental illness or like but we had to admit that if a person behaves different than the usual in frequent manner, He/she has depression that affects his whole personality. We can never tell what these people are passing through and what burdens they bear. During the time of trouble, they find things where they can find peace, satisfaction or use such things to tentatively forget their problems. There's no wrong in there. But the worst is, because they find themselves happy doing such things, they thought that it is invulnerable and they cannot live we without it because as far as problems are coming to their lives, they longing to be with these stuff to ease the pain that they feel. The bottom line is whatever addiction we had or they have, we had to understand them and give them the chance to change their whole-being...

Computing is a major issue of which I personally face. If I was you, I would tell your friend gently that he should stop playing games and he may then hate you for a while but after that you'll see the worthiness of telling him straight...

No theres nothing I am addicted to that can ruin my life I don't let myself get so involved in something to give it a chance for that to happen
Although I do spend a lot of time on the computer which is due to working online and earning an extra income via the internet I know when I've had enough and when its time to back off and sign off for the day I'm happy I've never anything in my life that I gave that much power over me

No. I have good self-discipline and I try to do everything in moderation. But of course never say never. It could always happen. It is said that people are slaves to their habits. And there are things that are hard to stop doing once you start, they're very habit forming and games are definately in that group. Maybe it's just in human nature and there is no cure, you just have to be careful not to end up like that.
